Student answer (Band 5.0)

In the current era, a lot of people go to see the popular sites to take picture of themselves without enjoying the location. They think that if they take photo and upload on social media they look cool however its comletely wrong.

In this essay we will discuss about common things that mostly people do such as when people go for a trip firstly they prefer to take photo on this photo because there mindset is set to this some people thing that if they take photo and send to there friend then there friend think him cool. For instance few day ago my friend went to a trip with family and they started to take picture in those location and send to all there friend and also uploaded photo in social media to look cool. i think one is that reason which i describe. And secondly is that some people take there photo to remember this enjoyable moments after the trip because the peope who do not take the picture, they will forgot that moments therefore some people who want to remember this so they take picture. For example i often do that because the trip that i want to remember, i click my picture on this site and after the trip whenever i see that picture i become very happy.

Different people has different point view of taking picture so i think it is not so much negtive trend because people wanted to close there memories in the photos so it is apostive trend in my point of view.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the main parts of the task by discussing both the reasons for the behavior and giving a perspective on whether it is positive or negative. However, the development of ideas is limited and sometimes repetitive. For instance, the reason regarding social media and looking cool is mentioned repeatedly without much extension. The writer's position is stated towards the end regarding whether it is a positive or negative trend, but the arguments supporting this viewpoint lack sufficient depth and clarity. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to provide more fully elaborated ideas with distinct supporting points rather than relying on generalized statements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

There is some organisation present in the response, and the writer attempts to structure the essay with paragraphs. However, there is no clear overall progression of ideas, and the flow is disrupted by repetitive phrasing. Cohesive devices are used rather inadequately or inaccurately, such as starting sentences with basic connectors or repetitive phrases like 'and secondly is that'. Paragraphing is also not fully managed, as the introduction and body sections blur together awkwardly without clear functional separation. To improve, the writer should ensure that ideas logically build upon one another and use a wider and more accurate range of cohesive links to guide the reader smoothly through the argument.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is limited but minimally adequate to convey the basic message. There are noticeable errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'comletely', 'mindset is set', and 'peope who do not take the picture', which occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader. The writer attempts some less common vocabulary like 'enjoyable moments' and 'social media', but the range remains restricted and repetitive throughout the essay. To achieve a higher score, the writer needs to expand their lexical repertoire, incorporate more precise synonyms, and pay closer attention to word formation and correct spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The response demonstrates a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences with occasional attempts at complex forms that are often faulty. There are frequent grammatical errors, including issues with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'Different people has'), missing articles, incorrect pluralisation (e.g., 'all there friend'), and punctuation mistakes. These errors frequently cause difficulty for the reader and obscure the intended meaning. To improve grammatically, the writer should focus on mastering basic sentence structures, ensuring correct verb forms, and reducing the frequency of foundational errors across the text.
