Student answer (Band 6.0)

Undoubtedly, many individulas are going to explore popluar places to click some good pictures of themselves but they are not enjoying by looking at the place. I believe that these trend came from social media as many influencers travelling different part of the world and showing to the young people by posting reels and videos. In my opinion, this trend has more disadvantages then advantages which I am going to discuss in further essay.

First and Foremost, one major disadvantage could be spending a lot of money for travelling just because to take some pictures for themselves without even apprectiating that place. For example, one of my best friend went to ladakh which is a popular place in India, I saw his many pictures with the beautiful locations behind but when I asked him a history about that place he do not have any idea as he just went to take some pictures. However, many social media influencers are visting to make content out of it but they are creating negative impact. Individuls can take photos to keep in their memories although they should give respect to the place by mesmerizing the view.

On the other hand, this could be a reason for some tourist place to increase their revenue by doing advertisement or creating photoshoot gallary to attract people. For instance, one of my favourite place in my hometown called riverfront, they are doing advertisement to promote that place by selling free tickets and making gardens and parks to attract visitors. Therefore, people are going to enjoy with their family.

To conclude, I believe that people should take picture to remember that day, also enjoy that place by spending more time with their families.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by identifying why the trend occurs and discussing whether it is a positive or negative development, establishing a clear position from the introduction that the trend is largely negative. Relevant ideas are presented, such as the influence of social media and the financial cost versus cultural appreciation of travel. However, some ideas are under-developed or lack full elaboration. For instance, the paragraph exploring the positive aspects of the trend touches upon increased local revenue and promotional activities, but the connection between taking selfies without looking at the place and these commercial benefits is not fully explained. Extending these arguments with deeper analysis would lift the task response to the next level.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Information and ideas are logically sequenced, allowing the reader to follow the progression of thought easily. Cohesive devices are employed to connect ideas, such as 'First and Foremost', 'On the other hand', and 'To conclude'. However, some referencing is not always clear and a few cohesive links feel slightly mechanical. For example, the transition between sentences in the first body paragraph could be smoother to avoid abrupt shifts in focus. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, but ensuring tighter logical links between sentences within paragraphs will enhance overall cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, demonstrating an attempt to incorporate less common lexical items such as 'influencers', 'apprectiating', and 'merchandising'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, including 'individulas', 'popluar', 'travelling different part', and 'history' used instead of 'historical background'. While these errors do not seriously impede communication, they reflect a limited precision in word choice and control over less common vocabulary. To achieve a higher standard, the writer needs to expand their range of vocabulary, improve spelling accuracy, and ensure more natural collocations when expressing complex ideas.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The text displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt to use varied structures such as relative clauses and conditional-like constructions. There are, however, several errors in grammar and punctuation, including subject-verb agreement issues ('this trend came', 'he do not have'), missing articles ('travelling different part'), and preposition misuse. Despite these errors, they rarely impede communication and the meaning remains clear. The grammar incorporates some error-free sentences, but frequent minor slips in basic patterns prevent the writing from demonstrating consistent control over complex structures.
