Student answer (Band 5.5)
At present, an increasing number of people prefer to click pictures of most popular places and visit there for photographs without giving too much attention to that place. In my view, this is a negative trend.
It is obvious that, these days technology has grown and everyone depends on it. First and most importantly, when ever people visit to famace places they love to take picture instead of knowing the importance of that place and getting the knowledge of that location. They click picture to show other people by posting those on social media platforms such as, instagram, facebook and whatsapp. In
addition, they like to show off and extend status while sharing the pictures on social media.
Another reason is that, in this era most of people are photogenic and they love to make memories by clicking picture of particular place. With the help of this they make sweet memory of that time when they visit to any place. However, due to this reason they do not enjoy the that time and ignore the beauty and history of that place. As a reasult of it, they may not enjoy. For example, tourists may take many photographs at a famous historical place but later remember only the pictures they took instead of the history of the place. This shows that taking photographs can distract people from learning about the importance of the place.
In conclusion, In conclusion, although taking photographs can help people keep memories of famous places, I believe this is a negative development because it can distract them from learning about and appreciating these places.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the task by discussing both the reasons for the trend and providing a clear position that it is negative. The ideas presented are generally relevant, such as the desire to share experiences on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook, as well as the tendency for people to become overly focused on capturing images rather than engaging with the location. However, some ideas are under-developed or repetitive. For instance, the discussion on why people take photos is expanded with valid examples regarding historical sites, but the explanation of the negative impact tends to loop without extending the argument further. To reach a higher level, the writer needs to provide more fully elaborated arguments and deeper analysis throughout all body paragraphs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear introduction and conclusion, and the position on the topic is maintained throughout. Paragraphing is utilised to separate the reasons from the evaluation of the trend. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and repetitive, with over-reliance on basic transition phrases such as 'First and most importantly' and 'In addition'. Furthermore, referencing and logical progression show some minor faults, such as the slightly disjointed flow between sentences in the second body paragraph, where ideas about memory making and distraction overlap without smooth transitions. To improve, the writer should use a wider variety of cohesive devices more naturally and ensure tighter logical links between sentences.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items and specific collocations such as 'social media platforms', 'historical place', and 'appreciating these places'. However, there are noticeable spelling and word-choice errors that reflect a limited level of precision, such as 'famace' instead of famous, 'reasult' instead of result, and awkward phrasing like 'extend status'. Word forms are occasionally imprecise, yet communication is not impeded as the reader can easily follow the intended meaning. To achieve a higher band, the writer must expand their lexical range and eliminate spelling and collocation inaccuracies.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The response employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at subordination and relative clauses, such as 'tourists may take many photographs at a famous historical place but later remember only the pictures they took'. There are some errors in grammar and punctuation, including missing articles ('visit to famace places'), incorrect prepositions ('visit to any place'), and awkward phrasing involving verb tenses and clauses like 'do not enjoy the that time'. Nevertheless, these errors rarely impede communication, and the structure is sufficiently varied for this level. To progress, the writer needs to increase the proportion of error-free complex sentences and refine their command of articles and prepositions.
