In this contemporary era, a growing number of people are opting to take photographs of themselves while their visit at famous places, without looking at the place. There are some reasons behind this trend and this approach has positive outcomes.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt, exploring both the reasons behind the phenomenon and whether the trend is positive or negative. The discussion covers social media popularity and preserving memories for the causes, and touches upon awareness, education, and employment for the evaluation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat uneven. While the point regarding social media is extended with relevant details about earning income, the exploration of the negative aspects in the conclusion is rather brief and tacked on, rather than fully integrated into the body of the essay. Furthermore, the position on whether the trend is entirely positive or negative contains some minor contradictions, as the writer mentions drawbacks in the conclusion without having dedicated body paragraph space to them. To reach a higher level, all parts of the prompt need more balanced and fully extended support throughout the main body.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The essay presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, recognisable format consisting of an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate the causes from the effects and evaluation. However, cohesion at times feels a bit mechanical or faulty. Phrases such as 'To begin with, The first and foremost reason' display redundancy and awkward signposting. Referencing is also slightly unclear in places, such as when 'this approach' and 'this trend' are used repetitively without varied substitutes. Progression is present, but transitions between sentences can be abrupt. To achieve a higher level, the writer needs to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices naturally and ensure seamless logical transitions between ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'contemporary era', 'renowned places', and 'significant value'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, word form, and collocation that prevent the response from reaching a higher level. Examples include 'while their visit at famous places' instead of 'during their visits', 'tiktok' needing capitalization, 'each content of these individuals', 'memorable movements' instead of 'moments', and 'Its generate employment' where 'It' is confused with a possessive. Spelling and word-form issues such as 'regrading' for 'regarding' also occur. While these inaccuracies do not seriously impede communication, they highlight a lack of precision in lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating subordinate clauses introduced by 'because', 'when', and 'although'. There is, however, a persistent presence of grammatical errors in prepositions, article usage, and subject-verb agreement. Examples include 'who visit at places' (unnecessary preposition), 'an excessive amount of popularity' (countable vs uncountable issues), and 'a large amount of population go there' (should be 'number of people'). Punctuation slips are also visible, such as unnecessary capitalization in 'Therefore, It helps them'. Complex structures often contain minor flaws rather than completely failing, allowing meaning to be conveyed, but the frequency of these errors keeps the grammatical control firmly at the current level.
