Student answer (Band 6.0)

Well, visiting popular places is a memorable experience for everybody. Taking photographs to collect memories is a cherry on the cake. Nowadays, people visit well-known places to take photos of themselves without looking at the place. In my view, it is a negative trend.

There are plenty of reasons for people to take photos of themselves without looking at the well-known place. To begin with, people like to show off everything on social media and as a result they visit the place, they shoot their reel over there without even seeing the place. For example, India has many spiritual places and Dwarka is one of them. I have seen one reel on instgram, a lady visit the place to shoot her reel and took photos without even going inside the temple.

Furthermore, some famous places such as museums, it has entry tickets. People who are not willing to pay for tickets they just take a photograph of that place from outside. For exapmle, Canada has a famous building called CN Tower which is the tallest building in the Canada. It has $50 entry fee per person so to avoid entry fees people just see the CN Tower from the road and will not go inside. Apart from this, citizens want to travel many places. So, they do not pay well attention while visiting a place.

Overall, taking photograph is a good habit to preserve memory but without lookiung at the well known place is not good. So, it has negative impact on society.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the task, providing both reasons for the trend and a clear position that it is a negative one. For example, the writer mentions social media trends and avoiding entry fees as causes. However, some ideas are more fully developed than others; the third reason regarding citizens wanting to travel to many places is rather vague and under-developed. To reach a higher level, all main ideas should be equally well-extended with deeper explanations and more comprehensive supporting details.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

There is a coherent overall arrangement to the essay, and the writer uses basic paragraphing appropriately to separate the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'Overall', but some of the referencing and transitions are mechanical or slightly repetitive. For instance, the transition into examples relies heavily on repetitive phrasing like 'For example' and 'For exapmle'. To progress further, the writer needs to employ a wider and more flexible range of cohesive devices and ensure smoother logical progression between sentences.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, successfully conveying the writer's meaning. There are attempts to use less common items, such as 'cherry on the cake' and 'spiritual places', but these sometimes suffer from awkward word choice or collocations. Additionally, there are a few spelling and word-form errors, such as 'instgram' and 'exapmle', alongside minor issues like 'without lookiung'. These errors do not seriously impede communication, but to achieve a higher score, the writer must demonstrate greater precision and flexibility in lexical choice while eliminating basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating that the writer can handle various structures. However, there are some noticeable errors in grammar and punctuation throughout the text, such as missing articles ('such as museums, it has entry tickets'), subject-verb agreement issues ('the tallest building in the Canada'), and punctuation lapses. While these errors rarely impede communication, they persist across the response. To reach the next band, the writer should aim for a higher proportion of error-free sentences and tighter control over complex grammatical patterns.
