Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days many people visit famous places but their preference is to take more pictures rather than loooking at the beauty of that place.

In my opinion, this is due to the influence of social media. Although this is not a positive trend because it does not fullfil the true essence of tourism.

In recent years, an over-growing trend has been observed, in which people take a lot of photographs when they visit a tourist place. The main reason for this behaviour is the influence of social media. Nowadays, digital media has become integral part of everyone's life. People have personal accounts on different social- media platforms including facebook, instagram and tiktok. Furthermore, they have a huge circle of friends and family there, so they want to connect with them more frequently. Everyone want to look more prosperous and happier in this race of digital media. As a result, when they visit any special place, they want to get as more pictures as they can to upload later on their accounts.

However, this is not a good approach because the main in purpose visiting any place is to enjoy the beauty of the nature. For example, if visiting a historical place, people should be interested in knowing the background of the place but they seems busy in photography.

A pyschological factor might also be involved in this behaviour such as self obsession, which tiggers people to photograph themselves more than usual. However, this trend should be controlled because it does not have positive impact.

In conclusion, these days this problem is getting worse, so steps should be taken which compel people to make a change in their behaviour. In this way more people can enjoy the beauty of tourist points.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both parts of the question: social media is identified as a reason for taking photographs, and you clearly judge the trend negatively. The explanation that people want to appear “more prosperous and happier” and share images with friends and family is relevant. You also give a contrasting example about visiting a historical place to learn its background. However, some ideas are less fully developed than others. The negative effects are mainly stated rather than explained in detail, and the point about “self obsession” is introduced briefly without showing how it contributes to the trend. Develop one or two consequences—such as missing cultural or natural features, or feeling pressure to present an idealised image—and support them with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction states the cause and opinion, the body paragraphs discuss the cause and negative judgement, and a conclusion restates the main message. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “As a result,” and “However” help show relationships between ideas. At times, though, cohesion is mechanical or the connection between points is not fully clear. The paragraph beginning “However” moves from the purpose of tourism to a psychological explanation, then to a recommendation, so its focus shifts. The conclusion’s call for “steps” is also not prepared for by a discussion of what those steps might be. Group related ideas more consistently and use clearer references when moving from one point to another.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the topic, including “influence of social media,” “tourist place,” “historical place,” and “psychological factor.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices, collocations, and spelling errors reduce precision: “over-growing trend,” “the main in purpose,” “self obsession,” and “tiggers” are examples. “Digital media” is also less precise than “social media” in this context. Aim for natural topic-specific phrases and check spelling carefully. For example, you could describe people as “focused on documenting their visit” and say that this can “detract from experiencing the destination.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, including a concession in “Although this is not a positive trend” and a reason-result structure with “As a result.” Most sentences communicate the intended meaning, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “digital media has become integral part” needs an article, “Everyone want” has a subject–verb agreement error, and “they seems busy” should agree with the plural subject. The opening sentence also has an awkward construction, while “the main in purpose visiting” lacks a clear grammatical pattern. Review articles, agreement, and sentence construction, then proofread each sentence for a complete and natural structure.
