Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era, many people nowadays visit popular places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place. This essay will discuss the reasons behing this scenario and will state why it is a negative trend.

To begin with the reasons, first and foremost is an addiction to social media platforms. People are using online platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and tiktok to increase their fan followers and likes. Whenever they visit any well-known place, instead of admiring those places, they tend to take pictures of themselves only. Also, in order to maintain their social status, they visit to historical places or museums so that they can post pictures online. As a result, many people do not explore the beauty and history of these places. Secondly, for the majority of young generation, visiting these ancient buildings are a means of fun activity. The groups of young people visit to historical buildings so that they can enjoy over there, eat there, and take candid photos of theirs. They do not spend time on praising the history, culture and emotions of the places which can actually help them to preserve the history and cultural believes of these places.

Moving towards my perspective, I strongly feel that this is a negative development as many people visit these places for fun, and for the tourists, these places genuinly become overcrowded. Due to which, the foreign visitors or other people can not pay attention to embrace the beauty and often lacks the time to know more about the old places. Which means the purpose of visit sometime becomes meaningless and they feel unsatisfied of their trips.

Taking everything into consideration, more and more people of the society explore the well-known sites to take pictures, without even looking at these places. I firmly consider this is a negative trend as this situation can demotivate visitors to visit again because of overcrowdedness.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: social-media attention and status are offered as reasons, and you clearly judge the trend negatively. The explanation that visitors prioritise posting over appreciating a site is relevant, while the point about overcrowding gives a consequence. However, some ideas are more fully addressed than others. The second reason—that young people visit for fun—is asserted but not clearly distinguished from the first, and the claim that this behaviour can “demotivate visitors to visit again” needs a more convincing explanation or example. Develop each reason with a specific illustration and explain more precisely how the trend harms visitors or the sites.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph giving your view, and a conclusion. Signposting such as “To begin with,” “Secondly,” and “Taking everything into consideration” helps readers follow the main stages. However, some linking is mechanical, and the long causes paragraph combines several points without enough separation or development. The transition “Moving towards my perspective” is also awkward, and the sentence beginning “Which means” is a fragment that interrupts the flow. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each cause to its explanation, while varying transitions and ensuring that references such as “these places” have an unmistakable antecedent.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “social media platforms,” “historical places,” “cultural,” “overcrowded,” and “preserve.” These choices make the subject clear, and you attempt some less common expressions. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “increase their fan followers,” “visit to historical places,” “cultural believes,” and “overcrowdedness.” Spelling errors such as “behing” and “genuinly” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural combinations and precise forms—for example, “gain followers,” “visit historical sites,” and “cultural beliefs.” This would make your vocabulary more fluent and appropriate to an academic discussion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, using structures such as “Whenever they visit…” and “so that they can…”. The main ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “the majority of young generation” needs an article or plural form, and “these ancient buildings are a means” does not agree in number. “The foreign visitors or other people can not pay attention … and often lacks” shifts from plural to singular agreement. The sentence beginning “Which means” is incomplete, while “Due to which” is an awkward fragment. Review articles, subject–verb agreement, and sentence boundaries, and combine dependent clauses with a complete main clause.
