Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Many people prefer to capture more and more photographs of themselves while touring a well-Known site and don't even enjoy the place . This trend is spreading as society prefers to stay more active on social media rather than real life. This is overall a positive development which I will explain in the upcoming paragraphs .
To commence with the reason , increasing use of social platforms by more and more people in daily life forces them to post the current trending content on their profile just to gain more followers as a result communities just click photographs and capture videos of themselves while visiting the famous places . For example , Niagara falls in ontario is a trending place on instagram always and citizens from nearby cities travel there just for snapshots without even enjoying the full view.
However, this can be considered as a positive trend as families capture their memories on screens so they can view later and by posting on social sites they help other people to enjoy the view who can't afford to visit physically . For instance , not everyone can afford a trip to Antarctica but it can be viewed from influencer's posted videos which makes it easier for everyone to know more about that place without being there physically .
To conclude , this trend is increasing due to popularity of social media among youngsters and can be seen as a positive trend as it helps so many people to enjoy far places without spending any money .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address both questions: you attribute the behaviour to social media and explain why you regard it as positive, giving examples involving Niagara Falls and Antarctica. Your position is clear in the introduction and conclusion. The examples make the response relevant, but some ideas are not fully developed. In particular, the claim that posting photographs helps others enjoy a place they cannot visit is explained, while the effect of taking pictures instead of looking at the place receives little consideration. The Niagara example illustrates the trend but could more clearly explain why people prioritise posting over experiencing the site. To strengthen the response, develop each main point with a clearer explanation and acknowledge the possible downside before defending your overall view.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining the cause, a paragraph supporting your view, and a conclusion. The progression from social-media use to the positive effects of sharing images is easy to follow, and signposts such as “To commence with” and “However” show the intended relationship between ideas. At times, though, linking is mechanical, and some sentences contain several connected points without clear separation. For example, the first body paragraph moves from social platforms to gaining followers and then to travel snapshots in one long sentence. Use full stops or more controlled clauses, and make links between examples and claims explicit. This would make the organisation feel more natural and the relationships between ideas clearer.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “social platforms,” “trending content,” “followers,” and “physically,” which helps communicate the topic. There are also attempts at more specific expressions, such as “capture their memories” and “full view.” However, some word choices and collocations are awkward or repetitive: “capture more and more photographs,” “current trending content,” and “enjoy the view” could be expressed more precisely. Capitalisation and spelling are inconsistent in “well-Known” and “instagram.” Aim for natural collocations and avoid repeating broad terms such as “place” and “trend.” More precise language for the behaviour and its effects would improve clarity and show greater control of vocabulary.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a cause-and-effect construction with “as a result” and a relative clause in “people who can't afford to visit physically.” The main ideas remain understandable, but some sentences are overloaded or contain errors in sentence boundaries and punctuation. For example, the first body paragraph joins several clauses without adequate punctuation, while spaces before commas and full stops are inconsistent. The phrase “families capture their memories on screens so they can view later” also leaves the object of “view” unclear. Break long sentences into more controlled units, check that each clause has a clear subject and object, and proofread punctuation. This would improve accuracy while allowing you to retain complex structures.
