Student answer (Band 6.0)

Technology and innovation today has brought world to a place where clicking picture is now more easier than ever before. Every other person have now access to smartphones with high quality cameras and casual lifestyle flex have recently flooded social media. In my opinion people this days are just intrested in capturing photos just for sake of social media without even enjoying the view of place.

Firstly, I blame the rising social media influencers and their targeted audiences. Their impactful posts on social media and associated fame from that has lured alot of youngsters to follow their path blindly. Secondly early access to smartphones gadgets is also one of the critical reason for such behaviour becoming more common.

In my opinion capturing moments in a form of photographs is a great way to preserve a long term memory. But in contrary i also feel that people forgets to look and enjoy the place. In my observation youngsters specially between the age of 18 to 30 who are looking for quick social media fame and popularity are more into just clicking photographs rather than observing details.

I firmly believe what i see and being an active social media user i can confirm that alot of my friends fails to answer details of the place which they have visited. Further i have also experienced at alot of tourist places where people are just clicking pictures rather than experiencing the place. Such behaviour would definetly help fill up a phone gallary but looking at the long term consequences hardly few will remember what it feels like to live that experience.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions: you explain the trend through social-media influencers, the desire for popularity, and easier access to smartphones, then give a balanced view before concluding that the behaviour has negative consequences. Your position is ultimately clear, and the examples about friends who cannot recall details of places they visited and people taking photos at tourist sites make the response relevant. The positive side—photographs preserving memories—is also acknowledged. To make the response more fully developed, explain more precisely how online attention encourages people to prioritise self-images over the place itself, and expand the positive-versus-negative judgement rather than relying mainly on the final claim about memory. Some points, such as the age range of 18 to 30, are asserted without much explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph considering the effects, and a final paragraph with personal observations and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “Further” help signal progression, and the ideas are generally easy to follow. However, the links between some points are mechanical, and the final paragraph repeats the concern that people take photographs instead of experiencing places, already introduced earlier. The relationship between the balanced point about preserving memories and your overall negative judgement could also be made clearer. Use more precise referencing and transitions, and give each paragraph a distinct purpose so that the argument progresses rather than revisiting the same idea.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “social media influencers,” “targeted audiences,” “preserve a long term memory,” and “long term consequences.” These phrases show an attempt to discuss causes and effects rather than relying only on basic terms. However, several word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward, such as “casual lifestyle flex,” “early access to smartphones gadgets,” and “fill up a phone gallary.” Spelling errors, including “intrested,” “alot,” and “definetly,” also reduce accuracy. Some repetition of “clicking photographs” and “place” limits flexibility. Aim for more natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, describe people as seeking “online recognition” and say that photos “fill a phone’s gallery.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including the contrast in “In my opinion capturing moments… But in contrary…” and the relative clause in “friends fails to answer details of the place which they have visited.” This gives the response some structural variety, and the main meaning is usually understandable. However, errors occur across the response: “Technology and innovation… has brought” has subject–verb disagreement, “Every other person have” is also incorrect, and “people forgets” and “friends fails” show further agreement problems. Articles, plurals, and sentence boundaries also need attention, as in “a form of photographs” and the comma splice in “I firmly believe what i see and being an active social media user…”. Practise checking agreement and punctuation, and build accurate complex sentences.
