Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days some people only travel to take their pictures with the new places and forgot to enjoy the moment as well to cherish the place. This happens due to the infuence of social media and addiction to photography. I personally believe that it is a negative trend as travelling is expensive activity and it should not be only used to collect pictures.

To commence with, these days people travel to accumulate content for their social medial sites and they forgot to enjoy the actual moments and places instead they keep on clicking pictures and make videos of the place. Also, some people have addiction with the photopgraphs therefore they captures pictures of themselves all the time to preserve as memory and to later to show to their family members and friends. These kind of people like to showoff in their groups and wants to influence other people.

On the other hand, the travelling is expensive hobby to pursue as it involves many types of expense like transportation, accomodation and food. Therefore, people should utilize their spending well and should focus on exploration and should gain experience and knowledge out of it. Moreover, it entertains people and relieve stress from their lives. Furthermore, they can also learn many skills from it including interpersonal and problem solving skills.

In conclusion, travelling should not be restricted to only taking pictures as it forces people to miss real benefits of it which is exploration, broadens one's perspectives and reducing stress.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: social media and a desire to collect photographs are offered as reasons, and your view that this is negative is clear from the introduction through the conclusion. The point that travel is costly and should provide exploration, knowledge and stress relief is relevant. However, some ideas are asserted rather than explained. For example, the claim that people take pictures to “showoff” and influence others would be stronger with an explanation or a specific example. The benefits of travel are also listed more than developed, and the response does not fully explore why people prioritise photographing themselves over experiencing a place. The response is three words below the required minimum, so ensure future answers meet the stated length as well as developing each main point.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining possible causes, a paragraph presenting the negative consequences, and a conclusion that restates your position. Linking phrases such as “To commence with,” “On the other hand,” and “Moreover” help signal the stages of the argument. However, some connections feel mechanical, and the second body paragraph shifts from the expense of travel to its benefits without clearly showing how these points support the central argument. Repeated use of “Also,” “Therefore,” and “Furthermore” can make the progression list-like. Improve cohesion by grouping related ideas and using clearer references—for example, explain how taking photos instead of exploring means travellers miss the benefits you identify.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of topic vocabulary, including “social media,” “accommodation,” “exploration,” “interpersonal,” and “problem solving skills.” These choices make your main ideas understandable, and you attempt phrases such as “preserve as memory” and “broaden one’s perspectives.” However, several word-choice and collocation problems reduce precision: “travel to take their pictures with the new places,” “addiction with the photographs,” and “utilize their spending well” are not natural expressions. There are also spelling errors, including “infuence,” “social medial,” “photopgraphs,” and “accomodation.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully; this would make your vocabulary more flexible and reliable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple sentences and attempts at longer structures, including the reason clause “as travelling is expensive activity” and the concluding clause beginning “as it forces people.” The overall meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “they captures pictures” has subject–verb disagreement, while “people … forgot” shifts tense in a general discussion. Articles and sentence patterns also need attention in “as travelling is expensive activity” and “to later to show.” The final sentence combines “broadens” and “reducing” in an unbalanced list. Review agreement, tense consistency, articles, and parallel structure, then proofread longer sentences to ensure each clause is complete and grammatically connected.
