Student answer (Band 6.0)
In contemporary society, a considerable number of individuals visit famous places just to capture photographs there and for the sake of photographs the forget the purpose of their visit which is to explore that place. Taking photographs at well-known places has become a trend now. This essay will analyze why this is happening and whether this approach is positive or negative.
With a rise in social media usage a significant number of people visit popular places so that they can capture photographs of themselves and post on social media platfrom; in addition, show off their followers that they had been there. Furthermore, it is obvious that if one utilise all the time in taking photographs, he will be left with a very little time to look at the place. For instance, my cousin is a social media influencer and to keep the audience engaged she visits new places every other day. Mostly, she bearly look at the place because she has to make videos and take photographs for an instagram reel. Moreever, some people beleive that they are creating memories by taking photographs. They believe that after some years by looking at the pictures they can recall their visit. To illustrate, I like to take pictures everywhere and husband hates this approach. He always emphasize to live the moment
However, most of the times individuals forget the basic manners for the sake of photographs and videos. There are a number of places where we should show respect like holy places. Individuals start taking photographs even where photography is not allowed. For instance, there is a trend of making video at one of the escalator at Holy Kaaba; in addition, whoever is visiting Holy Kaaba tend to make the video just to follow a social media trend. People are so desperate to make their video there that KSA government has to stop that escalator and ban photography there.
Form my prespective, it is entirely a negative trend, to just focus on taking photographs. Not all places are meant for photographing. We should not forget that a number of people lost their lives just for a photograph or a video. One should also give importance and respect to the place by exploring it rather than just photographing.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses both questions: it explains the trend through social-media posting and the desire to preserve memories, then clearly argues that the trend is negative. The cousin and Holy Kaaba examples make the discussion relevant, and the position remains consistent in the conclusion. The point about creating memories is introduced but not explored as fully as the social-media explanation, and the claim that authorities had to stop an escalator and ban photography would benefit from clearer context or support. To strengthen the response further, develop each reason with a more explicit explanation of how it leads people to focus on photographs rather than experiencing a place, and qualify broad claims such as people losing their lives for photographs.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes, a paragraph presenting negative consequences, and a concluding opinion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “For instance,” and “However” help signal relationships, and the reader can follow the main line of argument. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear. The first body paragraph combines social-media motives with the separate idea of preserving memories, while “in addition” in the Holy Kaaba example does not clearly show how the clauses relate. The final paragraph repeats the negative position without adding much development. For stronger progression, group each distinct reason or consequence more deliberately and use referencing that makes the relationship between examples and claims explicit.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
The response uses enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate its ideas, including “social media usage,” “audience engaged,” “holy places,” and “respect.” There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “a considerable number of individuals” and “entirely a negative trend.” However, noticeable spelling and word-choice errors reduce precision, including “platfrom,” “beary,” “Moreever,” “beleive,” and “prespective.” Some combinations are also unnatural, such as “show off their followers that they had been there” and “make a video at one of the escalator.” Aim for accurate, natural collocations and check spelling carefully. Replacing repeated general words such as “place” and “photographs” with precise alternatives where appropriate would also make the vocabulary more flexible.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The essay attempts a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause in “so that they can capture photographs” and a conditional structure in “if one utilise all the time.” Meaning is generally recoverable, but errors occur across sentence patterns and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include the missing possessive in “the forget,” the agreement error in “she bearly look,” and “He always emphasize,” where the verb form does not match its subject. The sentence beginning “To illustrate, I like to take pictures everywhere and husband hates this approach” also lacks an article and ends without clear punctuation. Practise checking subject–verb agreement, articles, complete sentence boundaries, and punctuation, while retaining complex structures only when you can control them accurately.
