Student answer (Band 4.5)

social media photography is very trending day by day, and it has a huge impact of people lifes. people taking photos in places makes people think where is this place and also on social media they comment on every picture asking for location.

social media has taken control on people life and their daily lifestyle 24/7 they are thinking of making pictures and making them viral.

it has different influence on people lives, positive trends like pictures with music are being enjoyed in every household every age of people are folling their favourt influencer and try to copy them which makes them busy and entertained.

negative impact which i think is that people are so into social media and the competition of making more and more good videos and photography as distroyed thair personal lives all they do is work on their social meida and givig little time to family and enjoy less.

i belive that eveything thing as a negative and psoitive effect and how ypu cope with it is your problem social media is very complicated and has taken over people life know everyone wants to do what others has already done and wants to copy was has an negative impact on our lives.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5

You address both questions to some extent: you suggest that social media encourages people to take and share photos, and you mention entertainment as a benefit and reduced family time as a drawback. However, the reasons are not clearly tied to the specific behaviour in the prompt—taking selfies at famous places without appreciating them—and your view on whether this is positive or negative remains uncertain. The conclusion says everything has positive and negative effects, then describes copying others as harmful, without giving a firm overall judgement. The ideas are also brief and lack relevant examples or explanation. In addition, the response is 44 words below the required minimum, which limits how fully you can develop your answer. Explain the causes more directly and support a clear position with a specific example.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

There is some basic organisation: the opening introduces social media, the middle discusses positive and negative effects, and the final paragraph attempts to conclude. This gives the reader a general sense of the response’s direction. However, progression is weak because the discussion moves from people asking for locations to influencers, entertainment, family life, and copying others without clearly connecting these points to the question. Paragraphing is inconsistent, including a negative-effects point beginning with a space rather than a clear new paragraph. Linking is limited and sometimes awkward, as in “positive trends like…” followed by “negative impact…”. Use one paragraph for causes, one for your evaluation, and a conclusion that follows logically from the reasons you have explained.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary, including “social media,” “influencer,” “competition,” “photography,” and “personal lives,” so the topic is generally recognisable. There are also attempts to express more specific ideas, such as content becoming “viral” and people trying to copy influencers. However, the range is limited and several phrases are repetitive or imprecise, including repeated references to “people life” and “making pictures.” Spelling errors such as “favourt,” “distroyed,” and “meida” make parts of the response harder to read, while phrases such as “huge impact of people lifes” are not natural collocations. Build a more precise set of expressions for tourism and online behaviour, and check spelling and word forms carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both short statements and longer sentences, for example, “social media has taken control on people life and their daily lifestyle 24/7 they are thinking…” This shows an effort to connect related ideas, but the sentence is not controlled: it needs clearer clause boundaries and punctuation. Errors with agreement, articles, and sentence structure occur frequently, as in “every age of people are,” “all they do is work,” and “everyone wants to do what others has already done.” Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, with several sentences beginning in lowercase and long clauses joined without full stops. These problems sometimes make relationships between ideas unclear. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses and conjunctions while checking subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
