Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is generally observed that most of the time when people often visited famous places they prefered to take their own photos, while ignoring the historical and cultural facts of the place. It is usually because, they want to show off their visits to their friends and follow travel trends on social media; in my view, this is a negative trend which I will explain in the following essay.

To begin, most of the visitors prefered to share their tours on social media in order to get attention from their friends and collegues. In other words, when they see some of their Facebook and Instagram friends visited a place, they will reach to that same place to take the photos and upload them on above mentioned virtual platforms. Unfortunately, without knowing the significance of these places. For example, a recent survey conducted in Agra, where majority of tourist come to see Taj Mahal, a wonder of the world. They found that about two-third of the visitors are unaware about the reason to built this tomb. Tourists usually come to capture their photos in which Taj Mahal is in a background of the photo.

Without an iota of doubt, this trend is decreasing the historical and cultural values of such famous places. The coming generation or the genration-Z is least interested to visit the famous places of their countries. Because their parents are busy in using social media trends and challenges in order to please others. When offsprings see their parents busy in taking photos and uploading reels. Consequently, these young will not ask question about the place. In my view, this is an educational decline in subject of history and culture,

To conclude, people preffered to choose photography in order to follow the social media trends rather than considering the rich history about the place. It is a negative side because the next generation will hardly go to such famous and cultural sites.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your response addresses both questions: you explain that social-media attention and travel trends motivate people to take photographs, and you clearly judge the trend negatively. The Agra example gives your explanation a relevant, concrete illustration, while the point about young people learning less about history extends your argument. This meets the task well, and the clear position and supporting example show some qualities of a stronger response. However, the second reason is less fully developed: the link between parents taking photos and the next generation losing interest is asserted rather than demonstrated. Explain this cause-and-effect connection more carefully, and develop how visitors’ focus on selfies affects their experience of the place, to make the ideas more consistently convincing.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, two body paragraphs present reasons, and a conclusion restates the position. The progression from social-media motivation to cultural consequences is understandable, and signposts such as “To begin” and “To conclude” help readers follow the argument. At times, however, cohesion is mechanical or unclear. “In other words” introduces a related but not identical point, while “Unfortunately, without knowing the significance of these places” is a sentence fragment that interrupts the flow. The shift from parents’ behaviour to young people’s future interest also needs a clearer connecting explanation. Use linking phrases to show precise relationships between claims, and make sure each paragraph develops one connected line of reasoning.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “historical and cultural facts,” “significance,” “social media trends,” and “educational decline.” These choices communicate your main ideas, and the response shows some willingness to use less common expressions. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “reach to that same place,” “collegues,” “reason to built,” and “preffered” are inaccurate or misspelled. “Historical and cultural values” is also less precise than a phrase describing the sites’ heritage or significance. Aim for natural combinations such as “visit the same destination,” “share their trips,” and “the reason the tomb was built.” Proofread spelling and choose vocabulary that expresses the intended meaning directly.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including clauses beginning “when,” “where,” and “because,” and your overall meaning is generally understandable. However, errors occur across verb forms, sentence boundaries, agreement, and articles, which limits control. For example, “when people often visited … they prefered” shifts tense inconsistently, and “They found that about two-third … are unaware” has problems with number and tense. “Unfortunately, without knowing the significance of these places” is an incomplete sentence, as is “Because their parents are busy…” when used as a standalone sentence. Practise keeping tense consistent, checking singular and plural forms, and joining dependent clauses to complete sentences. More accurate complex sentences would strengthen the range you are already attempting.
