Student answer (Band 6.0)
Nowadays, Many people visit known places to take pictures of themselves. They are more interested to get photographs and videos of themselves so they can upload those pictures on social media accounts, without looking at place.
In my opinion, this is a negative trend because people are keen to get validation online through reels and posts while they do not know anything about places. There are several reasons why this is happening. This essay will discuss those reasons.
Firstly, people like to spend more time on social media and they are blindly following trends to keep themselves in the race. Due to thirty seconds reels addiction, their attention span has decreased markedly, they do not want to listen long stories regarding the places. Secondly, nowadays, there are less story tellers available at those places because everyone has access to the information. In turkey, most travellers choose those places for visit where they are allowed to film themselves. For instances, many people just visit Hajia sophia mosque from outside because cameras are banned inside the mosque.
In addition to this, people are becoming more materialistics. They want to show their wealth to the world and are sharing contents through which they can depict their wealthy status. They are more interested in clicking pictures of their luxary hotels and food rather than those historical places. Traveling abroad has become another success banchmark.
Before this social media era, people used to travel to explore new places, culture and food. They enjoyed listening to historical tales narrated by local people. They had limited access to camera and they loved spending time with local communities.
In conclusion, I believe that this trend is negative and we should redirect ourselvelves because travel provides us a valuable opportunity to learn about histories.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both questions: you explain the appeal of social-media validation and trend-following, and you clearly state that the trend is negative. The examples about visitors choosing places where filming is allowed and the Hagia Sophia help make the discussion relevant. Your contrast with earlier travel also supports your position. However, some points are asserted rather than fully explained. For example, the claim that fewer storytellers are available is not clearly connected to why people focus on selfies, and the paragraph about displaying wealth could explain more directly how this changes the experience of visiting famous places. Develop each reason with a clearer cause-and-effect link or a specific example to make the response more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, paragraphs presenting reasons and a contrast with past travel, and a conclusion that restates your view. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Secondly,” and “In addition to this” help readers follow the main points. The progression is generally logical, but some links between ideas are abrupt. The move from reduced attention spans to fewer storytellers, for instance, needs an explanation of how these points relate. The sentence about Turkey also feels inserted rather than fully integrated into the preceding reason. Use clearer topic sentences and connect examples explicitly to the point they illustrate. Check punctuation around sentence boundaries, as in “information. In turkey,” to make the flow easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “validation online,” “attention span,” “historical tales,” and “local communities,” and you attempt some less common expressions. However, word choice, collocation, and spelling errors are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less precise. Examples include “thirty seconds reels addiction,” “story tellers,” “materialistics,” “luxary,” and “success banchmark.” Phrases such as “known places” and “for visit” are also not natural in this context. Build accuracy by learning common word partnerships and checking spelling and word forms. More precise vocabulary would help you express your ideas about tourism and social media without relying on broad or awkward phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You use both simple and complex sentence forms, including a reason clause in “because people are keen to get validation online” and a contrast with “while they do not know anything about places.” Most ideas remain understandable, but some grammatical errors recur. For example, “people are more interested to get” needs a different verb pattern, and “they do not want to listen long stories” is missing a preposition. There are also issues with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “without looking at place” and “information. In turkey.” These errors do not usually prevent understanding, but they reduce accuracy. Practise verb patterns, articles, and punctuation, then proofread each sentence for complete and correctly joined clauses.
