Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern time, the vast majority of people take numerous pictures of themselves at famous places without knowing about that places. This essay will discuss some negative impacts why it is happening with my personal opinion.

There are some reasons why people are curious to make a video and take pictures. Showing a high status among peers is one of the prominent reasons of this phenomenon. Because of this, they receive numerous compliments from their realtives in order to stay motivate and confident. Furthermore, these days people become workaholics. Instead of knowing about well-known places they just capture a moment of themselves and prefer to step out from there. Because they do not have enough time to know about the past of the popular buildings . As a consequence, they prefer to fill their phone gallary with images than enhance their knowledge about the famous destination where they are going.

Additionally, there are some negative impacts of ignoring popular places. If parents are more focus on pictures or selfies instead of knowing about the history of the popular destination. Then it put bad impact on the young adults who usually follow the foot steps of their role models or parents. Therefore, new generation will not have any knowledge about the historical buildings. So, roots of the country will going to be disappeared one day.To exemplify, In India , In Agra, according to the survey 80% of the visiters go to captures the moments to sit in front of the Taj Mahal and they do not know about the history of the Taj Mahal. That is why individuals do not have deepen understaning of the cultures and traditions.

To conclude, it is clear that although there are some positive imapcts of taking photgraphs of themselves without looking at buildings , I think cons are more than pros such as dissapearing cultural value and lack of knowledge. Also, there are some causes behind it such as spending busy lifestyle and lack of time.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

You address both questions: you suggest that social status, peer approval and a busy lifestyle motivate people to take photos, and you judge the trend negatively because it may weaken historical and cultural knowledge. Your position is clear in the conclusion, and the Taj Mahal example gives the discussion a relevant, specific illustration. This meets the task well, with some elements showing the fuller development expected at a stronger level. However, the explanation of why people seek status is brief, and the claim about parents influencing young adults could be explained more carefully. The conclusion also mentions positive impacts without identifying them. Develop each main reason with a clearer explanation or example, and make the evaluation consistent throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph on causes, a paragraph on negative effects and a conclusion. Linking expressions such as “Furthermore,” “As a consequence” and “To conclude” help show the intended relationships between ideas. However, some connections feel mechanical or unclear. For example, the shift from people being workaholics to their lack of time is not fully explained, and “Additionally” introduces effects without clearly distinguishing them from the causes in the previous paragraph. Several sentences are joined or punctuated in ways that interrupt the flow, and references such as “it” in “Then it put bad impact” are unclear. Use clearer topic sentences and connect each example directly to the point it supports.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use a relevant range of vocabulary, including “prominent reasons,” “historical buildings,” “role models,” and “cultural value,” which allows you to discuss social behaviour and heritage. There are also attempts at less common expressions, but inaccurate word choice, collocation and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the reader pause. Examples include “stay motivate,” “phone gallary,” “deepen understaning,” and “roots of the country will going to be disappeared.” Some phrases are also imprecise, such as “make a video and take pictures” when the focus is on taking selfies. Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary for motivation, tourism and cultural heritage would help you express the ideas with greater control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a conditional structure beginning “If parents…” and a reason clause with “Because.” However, control is inconsistent, and errors in sentence formation, verb forms, agreement, articles and punctuation sometimes make the meaning difficult to follow. For example, “If parents are more focus … Then it put bad impact” has problems with the adjective, verb form and sentence connection; “the roots of the country will going to be disappeared” combines incompatible future forms. There are also run-on or poorly punctuated sentences, such as the sentence ending “popular buildings .” Practise building accurate complex sentences, especially conditionals and cause-and-effect clauses, and check subject–verb agreement and sentence boundaries.
