Student answer (Band 6.0)
In the modern era, number of people travel to distinct places primarilary to photograph themselves, without genuinely engaging with the place itself. According to my perspective, it is a negative trend as social media use increasing day by day.
The main reason behind this behaviour is the influence of social media such as Instagram, Facebook and Tik Tok. People visit different places for a snapshot and upload on the social media to get attention from other. For example, visitors in Toronto vsit CN tower to get the pictures of themselves with a view from the top instead of visiting the museum behind the tower. Additionally, one lady in baff was at one place for capturing a video because she was dissatisfied with one shot and her behavour caused a disturbance to other visitors. This demonstrate that people have less affection with history and culture.
Moreover, it also pose safety risks. In Japan, for example, there are shops located dangerously close to the railway track, requiring vendors to rearrange their stalls each time as the train appraches. One tourist entered in the restricted area to capture a video beside the running train. One of the vendors quickly pulled away the tourist at the last moment. Eventually, the authorities suspended the trains for several days and the area was temporarily closed.
Admittedly, not all of the visitors are same, many of them visit wellknown places for the historical purpose. During a recent trip to himachal, India, my family visited a historical monument where they taught us how to make traditional pods as there was a workshop for the pods.
In conclusion, photography is harmless and a passion for some people. However, the growing obsession for perfect shot may cause saftey risks.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
Your response addresses both questions: you explain the influence of social media and judge the trend negatively, mainly because it can distract visitors and create safety risks. The examples involving the CN Tower and the tourist near the railway make the reasons relevant and concrete. You also acknowledge that some people visit for historical purposes, which adds balance. However, the first example is not fully clear, and the railway incident is described in detail without explaining how typical it is or linking it explicitly to the wider trend. The family visit to Himachal is also only briefly connected to the question. Develop these points more evenly and explain the significance of each example to make the argument more fully supported.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction states your view, separate paragraphs discuss social-media influence and safety, and a conclusion restates your judgement. Linking expressions such as “Additionally,” “Moreover,” and “Admittedly” help signal the development of ideas. This gives the essay a coherent progression. Some connections are less smooth, however. The shift from the railway incident to the historical workshop example is abrupt, and “This demonstrate” does not clearly identify which preceding point it refers to. The conclusion also introduces photography as a general passion rather than drawing together the two main reasons. Use clearer referencing and make transitions explain how each example supports your position.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use some relevant topic vocabulary, including “social media,” “restricted area,” “historical monument,” and “safety risks,” and you attempt more specific expressions such as “genuinely engaging.” However, inaccurate word choice, collocation, and spelling are noticeable and sometimes make the meaning less precise. Examples include “primarilary,” “get attention from other,” “less affection with history,” and “perfect shot.” Some phrases also sound unnatural, such as “for the historical purpose” and “one place for capturing a video.” Aim for accurate, natural combinations and check spelling carefully. A more precise range of expressions for tourism, online attention, and visitor behaviour would help you communicate your ideas more fluently.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause in “as social media use increasing day by day” and a participial phrase in “requiring vendors to rearrange their stalls.” The overall meaning is generally understandable, but some errors in agreement, verb forms, articles, and sentence construction remain. For example, “it also pose safety risks” needs subject–verb agreement, while “This demonstrate” has the same issue. “Social media use increasing” needs a finite verb, and “one lady … was at one place” is awkwardly constructed. There are also punctuation problems, particularly where sentences run together. Review agreement and complete verb forms, and use sentence boundaries to make complex ideas easier to follow.
