Student answer (Band 5.0)

People now a days are going to one place just to take a photos specially when they saw it online, many place in social media that are so beautiful in picture.Maybe they want to post it in their social media account.

For me it has a positive and negative trend,

As positive for me if they went to that particular place and they post in online maybe some of the local store or tourism will have many sales,i think the negative trend if some people went to that place and then they are not responsible for their rubbish and they just throw it anywhere i think it will have a bad impact to that place.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.0

You identify a possible reason for the behaviour—people see attractive places online and want to post photographs—and you give both a positive and a negative effect. However, the response addresses the task only partially: the reasons are briefly stated, and the positive effect on local businesses and tourism is not explained with an example or supporting detail. Your position is also unclear because you call the trend both positive and negative without deciding which view you consider stronger. The response is 114 words, below the required 250, so it cannot develop the ideas sufficiently. To improve, explain why social media encourages this behaviour, then state a clear overall judgement and support each point with specific examples.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response has a basic sequence: it first gives a reason, then introduces positive and negative effects. The phrases “For me” and “As positive” signal a shift in focus, so the reader can follow the broad structure. However, the ideas are compressed into one paragraph, and the progression stops before the points are developed. Linking is limited and sometimes awkward; for example, “Maybe” and “i think” recur, while the relationship between posting photographs and increased local sales needs to be made clearer. Use separate paragraphs for the reason, the benefits, and the drawbacks, and connect each claim to its explanation with clear transitions such as “For example” or “As a result.”

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use a small set of relevant words and phrases, including “social media,” “particular place,” “local store,” and “bad impact,” which makes the general topic understandable. However, the vocabulary is limited and repetitive, with “place” and “social media” appearing several times, and some expressions are imprecise or unnatural, such as “many sales” and “post it in online.” More precise topic vocabulary would help you explain the issue clearly—for instance, “promote local businesses,” “attract tourists,” or “damage the environment.” Try varying repeated nouns and choosing natural collocations. The current range is sufficient to communicate the basic ideas, but errors and limited variety sometimes make the meaning less clear.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You communicate several basic ideas using simple clauses, and the reader can generally understand your intended meaning. There is an attempt to join ideas with “if” and “and,” as in “if they went to that particular place and they post in online,” but the conditional structure and verb forms are not controlled. Other examples include “People now a days are going” and “if some people went … they are not responsible,” where tense and sentence construction are inconsistent. Punctuation is also weak: the opening sentence runs into “online, many,” and several ideas are joined without clear sentence boundaries. Practise accurate simple sentences first, then build longer sentences with one clear main clause and correctly formed supporting clauses.
