Student answer (Band 5.5)

nowdays many people believe that tourists visit well-known places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place. I believe that both positive and negative. There are several reasons why this is happening which we will discuss further.

first and foremost, one of the main reason is the connectivity of individuals by social media. For example, posting photos online and sharing with public. as a result, people want to get more likes, comments and views and their post. I believe that this is all positive, it give the feeling of being connected and loved as well as we can become famous. They also receives messeges from their friends and family who can watch that place live with video calls, feel happy without being phycially present. this helps to create more photos which we can look to recall the good movemnets of life.

furthermore, another important point is how the have negative impact of this. we do not live this life for us anymore but have started living life for others and social media . This is mainly because internet is affordable nowdays and anyone can go online. we are missing the real enjoyment of being at that some place. people who actully vist a place are also looking that place with a screen which they just supposed to look with their eyes. People should give that time to know that place, feeling the beauty of nature with eyes. there is no camera made in this world better than eyes.

to sum up, I would suggest everyone to create a balance of both, we should give enough time to vist a place so we can enjoy every aspect of a trip in modern world.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

You address both questions: you explain the influence of social media and give a mixed evaluation, noting connection and memories as benefits while arguing that people miss the experience of a place. Your position is present, especially in the conclusion’s call for balance, but it is not fully consistent: the opening says “both positive and negative,” while the first body paragraph calls the trend “all positive.” Some ideas are relevant but need fuller explanation. For instance, the point about likes and comments is clear, but the claim that visitors can become famous is not developed, and the video-call example is difficult to connect to the trend. Clarify your overall judgement and support each main reason with a more specific example or explanation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, separate paragraphs for benefits and drawbacks, and a concluding recommendation. Sequencing phrases such as “first and foremost,” “furthermore,” and “to sum up” help signal the stages of your argument. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs is not always clear. In the first body paragraph, the discussion moves from social-media posts to fame, video calls, and memories without showing how each point connects to the main reason. References such as “this” and “that place” can also be unclear. Use fewer formulaic transitions and link each example explicitly to the point it supports; a clearer topic sentence for each body paragraph would strengthen the progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main ideas, including “social media,” “likes,” “comments,” “real enjoyment,” and “beauty of nature.” However, the range is limited and several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems make the writing less precise. Examples include “sharing with public,” “their post,” “actully vist,” and “good movemnets of life.” Some expressions, such as “we can become famous,” are broad where a more exact description of online attention would help. Aim to learn common word partnerships and check spelling carefully. More precise vocabulary would make your explanations clearer and reduce repetition of general words such as “place,” “people,” and “photos.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more extended sentence forms, and the main message is generally understandable. However, some errors in sentence structure, agreement, articles, and verb forms recur. For example, “I believe that both positive and negative” is missing a complete verb structure, while “one of the main reason” has a singular-plural agreement problem. In “it give the feeling,” the verb does not agree with its subject, and “They also receives” has the same issue. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly at the beginnings of sentences. Practise building complete sentences and checking subject–verb agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries. Greater control of these patterns would make your argument easier to follow.
