Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today's era, an increasing number of people are visiting most famous places to capture the photographs own, without noticing how it looks like. Although this trend is happening due to comparison culture that exists on social media, its detrimental effects are more because they harm popular destinations
One major reason people are exploring well known places to take photographs with the influence of social media. When people visit new tourists spots they started capturing photos themselves so that they can upload in social networking platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat. This gives them sense of satisfaction than enjoying the famous spots. For example, if their friends or colleagues explored and upload pictures in these platforms, individuals started comparing with them and decided to visit the place to take photographs and post it in the Instagram mainly to attract others. As a result, taking photos becomes more important than enjoying the destinations.
I believe that it is a negative trend because it is unsafe for places. When many individuals are taking photos without exploring the places, the specific area become congested and creates a lot of issues for other tourists. In addition to this, sometimes when capturing beautiful moments by violating safety rules, may possibly damage the areas and unique identities such as statues.
For instance, some tourists climb restricted areas or enter protected zones simply to take eye-catching photographs and eventually faces legal consequences by breaking the rules.
In conclusion, the growing influence of social media has encouraged people to focus more on taking photographs than appreciating tourist attractions. Although photographs help preserve memories. I believe this is a negative trend because it causes damage to the tourists attraction spots.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You address both questions and maintain a clear negative view, explaining that social-media comparison motivates people to take photos and that crowding or rule-breaking can harm destinations. The examples of friends’ posts and tourists entering restricted areas make the response relevant. This meets the task well, and the explanation of the main cause is reasonably extended. However, the effects are less fully developed: congestion is mentioned, but its consequences for visitors or the site are not explained in detail, and the claim that photographs become more important than enjoyment is repeated rather than explored. To strengthen the response, develop each effect with a specific consequence and make the link between photo-taking and damage more explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5
The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, one paragraph on the cause, one on the negative effects, and a conclusion. The progression from social-media influence to the consequences for tourist sites is easy to follow, and connectors such as “For example,” “In addition to this,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships. Some cohesion is less controlled, however. The opening paragraph’s final clause is awkwardly attached, and the conclusion begins “Although photographs help preserve memories” but does not complete that contrast smoothly. Repeated references to taking photographs and social media also make parts feel mechanical. Use clearer links between each claim and its consequence, and ensure contrast markers introduce complete, balanced ideas.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range for the topic, including “comparison culture,” “social networking platforms,” “congested,” “violating safety rules,” and “protected zones.” These choices communicate the main ideas, and some topic-specific vocabulary adds precision. There are, however, several inaccurate or unnatural word combinations, such as “photographs own,” “new tourists spots,” “explored and upload pictures,” and “tourists attraction spots.” These errors do not prevent understanding, but they limit the naturalness and precision of the writing. Aim to learn common collocations as complete phrases, and check whether a word fits its intended meaning and grammatical form. More precise language for the effects on sites would also help avoid repeating general terms such as “issues” and “damage.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex structures, including a conditional example and clauses beginning “Although” and “When.” The main message remains understandable, but errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction are noticeable. For example, “they started capturing” and “individuals started comparing” do not fit the general present-time discussion; “the specific area become congested” has an agreement error; and “sometimes when capturing …, may possibly damage” lacks a clear subject. The opening sentence and the final “Although” sentence also need more complete, controlled structures. Practise forming accurate present-tense generalisations and checking that every clause has a subject and a finite verb. Greater accuracy in these patterns would make your complex sentences clearer.
