Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, more and more people visits well-known places to take photographs of themselves, without looking at the place. According to me it has a negative impact which I will talk about in the upcoming paragraphs.

There can be several reason for this. One major reason could be is social media. People want to show their followers that they visited the famous tourist places and capture the moments. With the likes and comments they want to gain the love of their fans. Apart from that, some people love to capture the moments through the pictures. They want to capture every beautiful moment of their life no matter where they go or with whom. So whenever they go to the beautiful places they click the pictures and preserve them as a memory so in future they can recall those moments.

This has a negative impact. Firstly, people are doing this only to gain followers on social media or to capture the moment for lifetime but during this they forgot to enjoy the moment in present. While taking the photos they don't even look around the beauty surrounding by them. For instance, people go to a histrocial place and just focusing on taking the photographes and they totally forgot to explore the history of that place and enjoy the beautiful scenery around them with their family and friends.

In conclusion, taking photos is good as they can kept is as a memory but with this people need to focus more on enjoying the present moment with their family and friends.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address both questions: social media and the wish to preserve memories are offered as reasons, and you clearly judge the trend negatively. The example of visitors focusing on photographs instead of exploring a historical site supports your view. However, the explanations remain fairly general, and the second reason—keeping memories—is not fully connected to why people fail to appreciate the place. The conclusion also introduces a qualification (“taking photos is good”) without developing it. The response contains 244 words, so it is 6 words below the 250-word minimum; 13 words copied from the task prompt were not counted. Develop each reason with a more specific explanation or example to address the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The response has a clear overall arrangement: an introduction, a paragraph explaining causes, a paragraph describing the negative effects, and a conclusion. Sequencing words such as “Firstly,” “Apart from that,” and “In conclusion” help readers follow the main stages. However, some connections are mechanical, and the progression within paragraphs could be clearer. For example, the paragraph about causes moves from social-media approval to preserving memories without explaining how these motives relate to the task’s focus on not looking at the place. The reference in “during this” is also vague. Use clearer links between each reason and the behaviour, and make references explicit, so the organisation feels more continuous rather than relying mainly on signposting phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate your ideas, including “social media,” “followers,” “historical place,” and “preserve them as a memory.” There are also attempts at more descriptive language, such as “beautiful scenery.” However, the range is limited and some word choices or forms are inaccurate or repetitive: “capture the moments” appears several times, while “gain the love of their fans” is an unnatural expression in this context. Spelling errors such as “histrocial” and “photographes” are noticeable, and “kept” is not the correct form in the conclusion. Build a wider set of precise expressions for motives and experiences, and check spelling and collocations carefully.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and complex sentences, including a reason clause beginning “no matter where they go” and a contrast introduced by “but.” Meaning is generally understandable, but errors are frequent enough to make some sentences awkward. For example, “more and more people visits” has subject–verb disagreement, and “There can be several reason” has an incorrect plural form. The construction “One major reason could be is social media” combines incompatible verb patterns. There are also problems with articles and sentence boundaries, as in “the beautiful places they click the pictures,” and punctuation spacing in “pictures.They.” Practise accurate agreement, verb patterns, and sentence punctuation, then proofread each sentence for a complete and grammatical structure.
