Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address all three points: you offer to make biryani, give a basic description of its rice, colours and spices, and explain that it is popular in your country. This makes the letter relevant and its purpose is generally clear. However, the description is difficult to follow in places, and the reason for including the dish is repeated rather than developed. For example, “everyone in my country is favorite dish” and “everyone's favourite dish” do not clearly explain its cultural significance or appeal to international guests. Add a clearer account of what biryani contains and why it represents your country, and make the offer more specific, such as saying you can prepare it for the event.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5

The letter has a recognisable opening, body and closing, and paragraph breaks help separate the offer and description from the reasons for inclusion. You also use linking expressions such as “In addition” and “Moreover.” However, the ideas do not progress smoothly: the second paragraph moves from popularity to colours and ingredients, while the final paragraph repeats that biryani is spicy, tasty and a favourite without adding a distinct point. Some links are inaccurate or do not clarify the relationship between ideas, as in “These reason biryani is so special.” Organise the body around the three requested points, use clear references, and avoid repeating the same claim.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary for the topic, including “spicy,” “rice,” “garlic” and “favourite,” and the reader can identify the dish and its general appeal. However, the range is limited and several spelling, word-form and collocation errors make parts of the message difficult to understand. Examples include “briyani,” “dilecious,” “mixer of two colours,” “spicy garlics source” and “yellow source.” Choose precise food terms and check spelling; for instance, explain that biryani is a rice dish seasoned with spices and describe its ingredients clearly. Replacing repeated general words such as “food” and “special” with more specific vocabulary would also make the description more informative.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple statements and longer structures, including “I would like to talk about a popular dish from my country, which is biryani.” The basic message is usually recoverable, but errors occur frequently and some sentences are incomplete or difficult to interpret. For example, “In addition, Everyone in my country is favorite dish” lacks a clear subject and grammatical structure, while “I might people taste this food and always enjoyed” has an unclear verb pattern and tense. There are also problems with articles, agreement and sentence boundaries, as in “this is so spicy and enjoyable dish.” Practise building complete sentences with a clear subject and verb, and check agreement and article use before adding longer clauses.
