Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5
You address the main purpose by offering butter chicken, describing it as chicken cooked with spices, and giving a reason for including it: its flavour and nutritional value. These points are relevant, but they are only briefly developed. For example, the description does not explain what makes the dish distinctive or how it is usually served, and the claim that it is healthy is not clearly supported. The response also does not clearly state that you will prepare or bring the dish, so the offer is less explicit than the task requires. The response is 123 words, below the required 150, which limits how fully you can explain your ideas. Develop each bullet point and make your offer direct.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The ideas follow a generally understandable order: you introduce the event, suggest a dish, describe its ingredients and preparation, and then give a reason to include it. This gives the letter an overall arrangement. However, the response is presented as one dense paragraph, so the shifts between the event, the recipe and the reason for inclusion are not clearly signposted. Some linking is attempted with “because,” “also” and “beside this,” but the connections are occasionally awkward or unclear. Use separate paragraphs for your offer, description and justification, and choose linking phrases that show the relationship between ideas precisely. A clear closing sentence would also help the letter feel complete.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use some topic-related vocabulary, including “popular dish,” “spices,” “vitamins” and “nutrition,” which helps communicate the subject. However, the range is limited, and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the message difficult to understand, such as “cuision,” “teaste” and “nutration.” Phrases such as “from whole world” and “food loved by everyone” are also imprecise or unnatural. Aim for accurate, natural collocations and more specific food vocabulary—for example, describe the dish as a creamy, spiced chicken curry rather than relying on general references to spices. Proofreading spelling and choosing precise expressions would make your meaning clearer.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response mainly uses simple statements and attempts a few longer structures, such as “because this food loved by everyone” and “owing to its… richness of vitamins.” These attempts show some effort to connect ideas, but errors in verb forms, sentence construction and punctuation are frequent and sometimes make the meaning hard to follow. For example, “I write this letter” needs an appropriate tense, while “This dish makes by…” lacks a correctly formed passive construction. There are also missing sentence boundaries and inconsistent capitalisation, as in “you.i.” Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then add subordinate clauses. Check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb, and use full stops and capital letters consistently.
