Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

The response successfully addresses all three bullet points of the prompt. You clearly offer to make a Dosa, describe its ingredients and preparation, and explain its cultural significance. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. To reach a higher band, ensure that the development of ideas is more precise; for instance, while you mention the ingredients, the description of the dish could be more vivid to better convey its appeal to the reader. Overall, the task requirements are fully met.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover', 'Furthermore', and 'So' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally slightly mechanical, and some transitions feel a bit repetitive. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentence structures could be more fluid to improve the overall progression of the text. The paragraphing is appropriate for a formal letter format.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'traditional', 'ingredients', and 'significance' (implied). There are some spelling errors, such as 'ingrediants' and 'your' instead of 'you are', which slightly detract from the quality. While you successfully communicate your message, the range of vocabulary is somewhat limited and relies on basic descriptors. Incorporating more precise adjectives or topic-specific collocations would help elevate your score in this criterion.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The response contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'it is make with' (should be 'made with'), 'this dish take' (should be 'takes'), and 'represent the India' (should be 'represent India'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article usage issues throughout. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and article usage will lead to significant improvement.
