Dear Luis,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Luis,
I am a member of an international students club as club is arranging an event to celebrate popular food from around the world on 4th August, 2026 at 9 pm. so I would like to describe some details about food.
I want to share some most famous food from my country such as pani puri, wada paw, jalebi fafda, and curry. Based on my experience i can suggest to make pani puri dish which very famous and most like by all people. As pani puri is the street style dish and the test of this dish is little spicy, salty, and sour. It contains, potato stuffing in the crispy balls made from enriched wheat flour, and water, which is made from green spicy chilli, mint, coriander, ginger, lemon, and salt, which makes people more interested.
From my view point panipuri dish should be added in the celebration, as people don't find it usually around their homes in abroad cities, they missed it a lot, so they can get chance to eat in the event. Moreover, in the event all people come from the different countries, so they can get chance to try this popular dish from my place.
let me know, if you need any further details, thank you.
Best regards,
Priyanka

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You offered to make a dish, described it in detail, and provided a clear rationale for its inclusion in the event. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. However, the development of ideas is slightly repetitive, particularly in the final paragraph where you reiterate that people from different countries would enjoy the dish. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph adds distinct value rather than restating previous points. Overall, the task requirements are fully met.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Moreover' and 'From my view point' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as the opening sentence which is run-on and lacks clarity. The use of referencing is sometimes mechanical, and the transition between the description of the dish and the reason for its inclusion could be smoother. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring sentence boundaries are clear would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, using specific terms like 'crispy balls', 'stuffing', and 'coriander'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'test' instead of 'taste' and 'in abroad cities' instead of 'abroad' or 'in foreign cities'. Additionally, some phrasing is slightly unnatural, such as 'most like by all people'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over collocations and word forms to reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation. For example, there are issues with article usage ('the test of this dish', 'the celebration'), subject-verb agreement ('as club is arranging'), and sentence fragments. Some sentences are overly long and lack correct punctuation, which makes them difficult to follow. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing articles and incorrect verb forms. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the letter.
