Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: offering to make a dish, describing it, and explaining its inclusion. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the description of 'carrot pudding' is brief and relies on general statements like 'very spicy' and 'home made ingredients'. To reach a higher band, you should provide more specific details about the dish's appearance, texture, or cultural significance. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an event organiser, though the opening sentence is slightly confusing regarding the 'event owners'. Overall, the response covers the requirements but lacks depth in the supporting details.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is organised into a logical sequence, moving from the offer to the description and finally the justification. You use some cohesive devices such as 'In addition to it' and 'As a result' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'To explain, these days people become a foody person'. Paragraphing is minimal; while the letter is short, separating the introduction, body, and conclusion more clearly would improve the structure. The referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the opening paragraph, which makes the progression of ideas feel slightly mechanical rather than natural.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'promote', 'ingredients', and 'opportunities'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and unnatural collocations, such as 'event owners' instead of 'event organisers', 'foody person' instead of 'foodie', and 'makes with' instead of 'is made with'. These errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word choices are contextually accurate for a formal or semi-formal letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt to use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'if this dishes included' (subject-verb agreement), 'people have get an opportunities' (tense and article usage), and 'its very spicy' (missing apostrophe for 'it is'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with commas and apostrophes. While these errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, they rarely impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and verb tenses.
