Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the ideas. While you have attempted to address the three bullet points, the content is very brief and lacks the necessary detail to fully satisfy the task. For example, you mention offering to make a dish but fail to actually name or describe a specific dish from your country. Furthermore, the explanation of why it should be included is vague and repetitive. To improve, you must expand on each point with specific examples and descriptive language to ensure the task is fully addressed.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into short paragraphs, which is appropriate for this task. However, the logical progression of ideas is hindered by the lack of development. While you use some cohesive devices like 'Firstly', 'secondly', and 'Lastly', the sentences themselves are often disjointed or grammatically unclear, which makes the flow of the letter feel mechanical. To improve, focus on connecting your ideas more naturally and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, well-developed focus rather than just listing points.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is quite basic and repetitive. There are also several errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'arond' instead of 'around' and 'word' instead of 'world'. Phrases like 'improve the satisfaction rate among people' sound unnatural in the context of a friendly letter to an event organiser. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to food, culture, and event planning, and ensure that your spelling and word forms are accurate.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'I am writing this letter for invitation celebrate' (missing preposition/verb form) and 'it shows the importance of each culture and tradition ensure it feels everyone inclusive' (incorrect sentence structure). The range of grammatical structures is limited, relying mostly on simple sentences. To improve, focus on using a mix of complex sentence structures and proofreading your work to correct basic errors in subject-verb agreement, prepositions, and word order.
