Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You offered to make a dish, described the samosa, and explained why it should be included. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. However, the letter contains a significant amount of repetition due to the inclusion of a draft version before the final text. In an exam setting, this would be confusing and unprofessional. To improve, ensure you only submit one final, polished version of your letter. The ideas are relevant and clearly presented, meeting the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Additionally' and 'moreover' to link your thoughts. However, the repetition of the entire letter at the beginning of your response creates a major issue with coherence, as it makes the structure disjointed and confusing. If we consider only the final version, the progression is logical and easy to follow. To improve, focus on ensuring your final submission is clean and free of redundant text, and try to vary your linking words further.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using terms like 'culinary skills', 'showcase', and 'enhance its flavours'. There are a few minor spelling errors, such as 'rectip' instead of 'recipe' and 'guant' instead of 'grant'. While these do not impede communication, they suggest a need for more careful proofreading. You have a sufficient range to express your ideas clearly, but to reach a higher band, you should aim to use more precise collocations and avoid basic spelling mistakes.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as 'The dish that I am planning to make is usually made with boiled potatoes that are wrapped in tortillas'. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'participate in food from around the world event' (missing 'the') and 'my country people' (should be 'my fellow countrymen'). Punctuation is generally acceptable, though there are some issues with capitalisation after full stops. The grammar is generally clear, but more attention to articles and prepositions would improve the accuracy of your writing.
