Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, which significantly impacts the development of the ideas. While you have addressed the three bullet points—offering to make a dish, describing it, and explaining its importance—the content is underdeveloped. The explanation of why the dish should be included is brief, and the letter ends abruptly mid-sentence. To improve, you must expand on your ideas by providing more descriptive details about the dish and a more thorough justification for its inclusion in the event. Ensure you complete the letter with a proper closing.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter lacks a clear structure and logical progression. The paragraphing is inconsistent, and the abrupt ending makes it difficult to follow the flow of information. There is a lack of cohesive devices to link sentences and ideas together; for example, the transition between describing the dish and explaining its cultural significance is disjointed. To improve, use linking words such as 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'in addition' to connect your thoughts, and ensure you use clear paragraph breaks to separate the introduction, the body of the letter, and the conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
Your vocabulary is limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'food' and 'famous' throughout the text. There are also errors in word choice and spelling, such as 'treaditional' (traditional) and 'organization' (which is not the correct term for an event). The phrasing 'in all around the world' is unnatural. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use more varied and precise vocabulary related to cooking and cultural events, and pay closer attention to spelling and standard collocations.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. There are issues with article usage ('a event'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. For instance, 'its show our culture' should be 'it shows our culture.' The sentence fragments and the incomplete final sentence demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb, and practice using correct verb tenses and articles consistently.
