Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: offering to make a dish, describing it, and explaining its inclusion. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. While you mention 'roti and saag', the description is quite basic and relies on repetitive phrasing. The explanation for why it should be included is relevant, but the arguments regarding 'cultural identity' and 'health benefits' are slightly underdeveloped and could benefit from more specific detail. To reach a higher band, ensure that your explanations are fully expanded and directly linked to the context of an international students' club event.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'Because cultivation appear during the winter' is a sentence fragment and does not connect logically to the previous sentence. Additionally, the use of 'secondly' is a bit abrupt. While there is an overall progression, the flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, which makes the text feel disjointed at times. Improving the variety and accuracy of your linking words will significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for higher bands. You rely on simple descriptors like 'popular' and 'good for health' multiple times. There are also some word-choice errors, such as 'I am belong to' instead of 'I come from' or 'I am from', and 'people test different culture' instead of 'people taste different cuisines'. While your meaning is generally clear, the limited range of vocabulary and the occasional misuse of words prevent a higher score. Try to incorporate more specific culinary terms and varied adjectives to describe the food and its benefits.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There is a high frequency of grammatical errors throughout the letter, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('cultivation appear'), article usage ('a most popular food'), and sentence structure ('I this my country food, you will be liked'). You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors that can cause some difficulty for the reader. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the placement of commas and periods. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and subject-verb agreement before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
