Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points: offering a dish, describing it, and explaining its inclusion. However, the development of these ideas is very limited due to the significant under-length. The letter is 40 words short of the 150-word requirement, which prevents a full exploration of the topic. The explanation of why the dish should be included is particularly brief and lacks the necessary detail to fully satisfy the task requirements. To improve, you must expand on your ideas by providing more descriptive language and a more formal, persuasive tone suitable for an event organizer.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organized into short paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the logical progression is hindered by the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Furthermore', but the transitions between sentences feel somewhat abrupt. The referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the final sentence, which is grammatically incomplete and confusing. To improve, ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and use a wider variety of linking words to connect your ideas more smoothly throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally basic and repetitive. While you successfully name ingredients like 'Goat meat' and 'green vegetable', the range is limited. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'major meal consume' (should be 'consumed') and 'made food'. The spelling of 'Nigeria' (should be 'Nigerian') and the capitalization errors ('Good', 'Goat') detract from the overall quality. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise adjectives and ensuring correct word forms and spelling.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The response relies heavily on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues ('one of the club member' instead of 'members') and tense inconsistencies. Punctuation is also problematic, with inconsistent spacing and incorrect capitalization. The final sentence is a fragment, which significantly impacts clarity. To improve, practice constructing complex sentences using subordinating conjunctions and pay closer attention to basic grammar rules like pluralization and verb tense consistency.
