IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You are a member of an International Students' club. The club is organising an event to celebrate popular food from around the world.

Write a letter to the event organiser, Luis. In your letter

• offer to make a popular dish from your country
• describe what this dish is
• explain why it should be included in the event

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Luis,

I hope preparations for the food event are going well! I'm writing to offer my help — I'd love to prepare a dish from my home country for everyone to try.

I'd like to make Dal Dhokli, a traditional dish made with Indian spices It's usually served with Rice, and it has a spicy tasty, flavour that most people find really enjoyable, even if they've never tried anything like it before.

I think this dish would be a great addition to the event because it represents an important part of my culture, and food is such a wonderful way to introduce people to new traditions without needing to say a word. It's also easy to make in a large batch, so everyone attending will get the chance to have a taste.

Please let me know if you'd like me to bring anything else, such as serving plates or a short description card explaining the dish's background.
