Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly offered to make a dish, provided a descriptive breakdown of its components, and explained its cultural significance. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are fully developed; for instance, while you mention the dish is a 'main course,' providing a bit more detail on the sensory experience of eating it would enhance the reader's engagement. Overall, the response is relevant and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'Moreover' and 'In addition,' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes slightly mechanical. For example, the transition between describing the dish and explaining why it should be included could be smoother. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'Its must be presented,' where the pronoun usage is grammatically incorrect. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring consistent paragraph structure will help you achieve a higher score.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message, such as 'culinary heritage' and 'diversity.' However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'various food of different countries' (should be 'various foods' or 'dishes') and 'describe food lifestyle' (should be 'reflects the culinary lifestyle'). While these errors do not impede communication, they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that nouns and verbs agree in number.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('many foreigners, who travels' should be 'travel'), article usage ('the function' is unnecessary here), and punctuation errors. For example, 'Its' is used incorrectly instead of 'It's' or 'It'. While these errors rarely prevent the reader from understanding your meaning, they are frequent enough to keep the score in the 6.0 range. Focusing on proofreading for basic tense and pluralization errors will significantly improve your accuracy.
