Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly offered to make a dish, described it as a vegetable biryani with specific ingredients, and provided a logical reason for its inclusion, noting the cultural relevance to the student body. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organizer. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly more on the sensory description of the dish or provide more specific details about how the dish would be served to enhance the reader's engagement with your proposal.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter follows a logical structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. The progression of ideas is easy to follow. You use some cohesive devices such as 'This dish' and 'It would be', which help link your sentences. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat basic. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words or transition phrases (e.g., 'Furthermore', 'Consequently', 'In addition to this') to create a smoother flow between your sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'cuisine', 'digestion', and 'consideration'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'It one the most favourites' (should be 'It is one of the most popular') and 'sense of belongings' (should be 'sense of belonging'). While your vocabulary is sufficient to communicate your message clearly, it lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band. Incorporating more sophisticated collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing would strengthen this area.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'most of the student are studying' (should be 'most of the students are studying') and 'which helps in easy digestion' (should be 'which aids digestion'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors throughout the text. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences will help you achieve a higher band score.
