- explain why it should be included in the event
You do NOT need to write any addresses.
Begin your letter as follows:
Dear Luis,
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Luis,
I am writing to request take part in upcoming International Student’s club food day. Where students from various ethnicity prepare and sell native dishes, I would like to cook Vada Pav, which is India’s most loveable fastfood.
Firstly, burgers are prepared based on Vadapav, as both of them has a patty between two buns and layer of sauce. Vada Pav’s patty is made out of boiled potatoes, chillies and cilantro, which is the complete source of vitamins, protien and carbohydrates with pinch of freshness. Secondly, the patty will be fried in refined peanut oil. The sauce is made out of mint, cilantro, garlic, ginger and green thai chillies, which adds freshness with flavours. The buns are toasted with butter and made out of whole wheat.
Furthermore, the price of single Vada Pav would be around $5, which is significantly lower and affordable than other fast food options. The food is also rich in vitamins and protien, better for overall gut health of students. The preparation time is exponentially less and could be served in few minutes.
Nevertheless, I would like you to approve my request. Should you require more details and food photos, I am happy to assist you.
I look forward to hearing back.
Yours sincerely,
Smith.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task effectively. You offered to make a dish, described it in detail, and provided clear reasons for its inclusion. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. However, the development of ideas could be slightly more focused on the 'event' context rather than just the recipe. For example, while the description of the ingredients is thorough, linking it more directly to why students would enjoy it at an international event would strengthen the response. Overall, the task is fulfilled well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organised with clear paragraphing. You use transition signals such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Furthermore', and 'Nevertheless' to guide the reader. While some of these transitions are slightly mechanical, they serve their purpose well in a formal letter. The progression of ideas is clear, moving from the offer to the description and finally to the justification. Referencing is generally clear, though the connection between the first and second paragraphs could be smoother to improve the flow of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using specific terms like 'cilantro', 'refined peanut oil', and 'toasted'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'loveable' (usually used for people or pets; 'popular' or 'beloved' would be better) and 'protien' (spelling error). You attempt to use descriptive language, but some phrases are slightly awkward, such as 'complete source of vitamins'. Expanding your range to include more precise collocations would help you reach a higher band.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'I am writing to request take part' (should be 'to request to take part' or 'to request to participate') and 'both of them has' (should be 'have'). Additionally, there are minor punctuation and article errors, such as 'in upcoming International Student’s club' (should be 'in the upcoming...'). While these errors are noticeable, they do not impede communication, and the meaning remains clear throughout the letter.
