You are a member of an International Students' club. The club is organising an event to celebrate popular food from around the world.

Write a letter to the event organiser, Luis. In your letter

• offer to make a popular dish from your country
• describe what this dish is
• explain why it should be included in the event

Dear Luis,

I am writing in regards to the menu for the food event the club is organizing.

I would like to make a very famous dish from my country Nigeria. I will personally be in-charge of sourcing for the necessary ingredients and making the meal. The food i am suggesting is Groundnut soup and pounded yam.

Soups are a very common dish in my country and groundnut soup is particularly popular in the south-south region of the country. It is made with roasted and grinding groundnut. A range of healthy herbs and spices are added which plays a very big part in aroma and taste. Picking the right protein to use and the right type of nuts is very paramount . Cooking all these would result in a delicious pot of groundnut soup. It can be paired with any swallow of choice but is popularly eaten with pounded yam.

I believe this meal will help foreigners understand the importance of spices and herbs in West African dishes. Additionally, it is a rich and tasty food and I would really want to use this to put Nigeria on the map.
