Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all three bullet points of the prompt, though the development of ideas is somewhat limited and occasionally confusing. You successfully offer to make a dish, name it, and provide a reason for its inclusion. However, the description of the dish is factually confusing (labeling Hakka noodles as 'Italian food'), which impacts the clarity of your message. To improve, ensure your explanations are logical and factually consistent. While you cover the requirements, the lack of depth and the confusion regarding the dish's origin mean the response only partially fulfills the task's potential for clear communication.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is organized into three paragraphs, which is appropriate for this task. However, the logical progression of ideas is frequently interrupted by awkward phrasing and run-on sentences. For example, the second paragraph is a single, long, and confusing sentence that makes it difficult to follow your train of thought. While you use basic cohesive devices like 'First of all' and 'Secondly', the connections between sentences are often mechanical or unclear. Improving your use of punctuation and breaking down complex, rambling sentences into shorter, clearer ones would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

Your vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive, relying on basic terms like 'food', 'dish', and 'make'. There are also significant issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'spiceness' (instead of spiciness) and 'every city of the corner' (which is not a standard English idiom). The error regarding the origin of the dish also suggests a lack of precision. To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of descriptive adjectives and more precise nouns, and ensure that your word choices are contextually accurate and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('Hope you doing well'), spelling errors ('writting', 'givving'), and incorrect sentence structures. You rely mostly on simple sentence structures, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as the run-on sentence in the second paragraph. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with missing periods and misused commas. Focusing on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and proofreading for spelling will help you improve your accuracy and clarity.
