Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You offered to make chicken biriyani, described the ingredients, and explained why it should be included. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why it should be included focuses on health benefits and smell, which is a bit unusual for a food event. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the cultural significance or the popularity of the dish to make your argument more persuasive. The tone is generally appropriate for a letter to an event organiser, though it could be slightly more formal.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. However, the logical progression between sentences is sometimes weak. For example, the transition between describing the ingredients and the health benefits is abrupt. You rely on simple linking words, and some cohesive devices are missing or used incorrectly, such as the repetitive use of 'this' to start sentences. Improving the use of transition signals like 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' would help create a smoother flow of ideas throughout the letter.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using specific food-related terms like 'turmeric powder', 'coriander leaf', and 'homemade pickles'. However, there are several inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'unpredictable' to describe a smell (a better word would be 'inviting' or 'aromatic') and 'addicted' (which is usually used in a negative context; 'addicted to the taste' or 'enjoy it immensely' would be better). There are also minor spelling errors like 'oraganise'. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise adjectives and collocations will improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include missing articles ('one of the famous dish' should be 'one of the most famous dishes'), subject-verb agreement errors ('main ingredient is chicken' should be 'the main ingredients are chicken'), and punctuation issues. Additionally, some phrases are fragmented, such as 'much protein, vitamins and minerals also get good sleep'. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for articles and pluralisation will significantly enhance your accuracy.
