IELTS Writing Task 1 question

You are a member of an International Students' club. The club is organising an event to celebrate popular food from around the world.

Write a letter to the event organiser, Luis. In your letter

• offer to make a popular dish from your country
• describe what this dish is
• explain why it should be included in the event

You do NOT need to write any addresses.

Begin your letter as follows:

Dear Luis,

Student answer (Band 6.5)

Dear Luis,

I am writing regarding the event where we arrange delicacies from around the world. As a member of International Students' club, I would like to arrange one of the dish from my hometown.

The dish is called Pani Puri, it has various parts and can be eaten by mixing all of them. The dish contains a of mixture of potatoes and chickpeas which then is mixed with various spices, which is used as filling. We also make a type of drink which is basically made out of green chillies, and fresh mint, it is a bit spicy as well as gives the dish its tangy flavour. To end with we have puri which works like a container to fill up all the other ingredients. We add the filling as well as drink into the puri and eat it together.

I believe, this dish is very famous in my country, and due to its rich flavour people would love to try them. I understand everyone has different spice levels. Therefore, I will also arrange a mix which can be used to reduce the spice.

To conclude, I am really looking forward to any suggestions and ideas from your side. Which can make the event more successful.
