Student answer (Band 5.5)

Dear Luis,

I got to know that our club is planning to organise an event to celebrate famous food around the countries.

I think this is good to organised food event which will help all club members to connect with their popular food items. I would say that from my country we will plan to arrange phav bhaji as it is the best dish in our country.

This dish include ingredents like tomato greavey and some Indian spicies with bread. If we include this dish to our event than it can attract many individuals because the taste is spicie which is liked by all people in todays time. People will buy this indian dish to taste.

I hope this event will be successful by involving more delicates from other counties as well.

Your sincerely,

Neel

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

You have addressed all three bullet points: offering a dish, describing it, and explaining its inclusion. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum, which limits the development of your ideas. The description of the dish is quite brief, and the explanation for why it should be included lacks depth. To improve, you should expand on the cultural significance of the dish or provide more sensory details about the ingredients and preparation. Because the response is under-length, it does not fully satisfy the task requirements for development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter follows a logical structure with a clear opening and closing. You use basic cohesive devices like 'I think' and 'If we include', but the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. Paragraphing is present, but the paragraphs are very short, which disrupts the overall progression of the letter. To reach a higher band, try to use a wider variety of linking words such as 'furthermore', 'consequently', or 'in addition' to connect your ideas more fluidly.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but there are several spelling errors, such as 'ingredents', 'greavey', 'spicies', and 'delicates' (likely meaning 'delicacies'). These errors occasionally distract the reader. You rely on simple, repetitive language like 'good' and 'best'. To improve, you should aim for more precise vocabulary related to food and events, and pay closer attention to spelling accuracy, as these errors hinder the overall quality of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors. For example, 'I got to know that our club is planning' is slightly unnatural; 'I think this is good to organised' contains a tense error ('organise'); and 'than it can attract' should be 'then'. Additionally, 'Your sincerely' is incorrect; it should be 'Yours sincerely'. While your meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in verb forms and prepositions limit your score.
