Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly offered to make a dish, described it, and provided a logical explanation for why it should be included in the event. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser, and the purpose of the communication is clear from the outset. To reach a higher band, ensure that your ideas are developed with slightly more formal language and avoid minor inaccuracies in the description of the dish, such as the spelling of ingredients, which can slightly distract the reader from the content.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'moreover' and 'because', which help the flow of ideas. However, the progression between sentences is sometimes slightly mechanical, and there are issues with punctuation, such as missing spaces after commas and periods (e.g., 'well,I', 'india.In'). Improving the consistency of your punctuation and using a wider variety of linking words would enhance the overall coherence and make the text feel more professional and fluid.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including specific terms like 'dietary restrictions' and 'vibrant appearance'. However, there are several spelling errors throughout the text, such as 'happpy', 'tradational', 'cheekpees', 'oninon', 'chilee', 'turmaric', 'accodrding', and 'priour'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable. While the meaning remains clear, you need to focus on accuracy in spelling and word formation to move into a higher band. Using more precise collocations would also help elevate the quality of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles (e.g., 'make tradational indian dish'), verb forms (e.g., 'it made with'), and sentence fragments or run-on sentences. The lack of proper capitalisation for proper nouns like 'Indian' and 'India' also affects the accuracy of your writing. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and ensure that every sentence has a clear subject and a correctly conjugated verb. Proofreading for basic punctuation and capitalisation will significantly improve your score.
