Dear Luis,

Hope you are doing well. I am a member of International Student's club and writing this letter to be a part of the event to celebrate popular food around the globe and also need to reserve a spot, to represent India.

First of all, I would like to talk about the dish I will be preparing for the event, called Halva. It is a sweet dish prepared on every happy occasions throughout country, even during festivals it is a part of culture to have Halva. It is always tastes best when served warm and is made using coarse wheat flour along with sugar, chopped dry fruits and ghee, also known as clarified butter. It would be a best opportunity for everyone to experience our tradition and be a part of community.

I learned to prepare it from my mother before moving to this country. I can prepare it quickly before the event to share the best flavours of the dish. I am looking forward to your prompt response regarding my eligibility.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You clearly offered to make a dish, described it as a sweet preparation made from coarse wheat flour, sugar, and ghee, and provided a logical reason for its inclusion by highlighting its cultural significance and the opportunity for community sharing. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, meeting the requirements of the task effectively.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0

The letter is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'also', and 'before moving to this country' to link ideas. However, the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words to connect sentences more fluidly. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and the overall structure is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'clarified butter', 'tradition', and 'eligibility'. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'happy occasions throughout country' (missing 'the') and 'it is always tastes best' (incorrect verb form). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, incorporating more precise collocations or less common lexical items would elevate the response. The spelling is accurate throughout the letter.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are some grammatical slips, such as 'I am a member of International Student's club' (missing 'the'), 'on every happy occasions' (should be 'occasion'), and 'it is always tastes best' (should be 'it always tastes best'). Despite these errors, your meaning is never obscured, and the communication remains clear. To reach a higher band, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles.
