Dear Luis,
Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Luis,
I hope you are doing well. I am writing this letter to offer the one of famous dish that belongs to my culture, if you can add this dish to the event of celebration popular food around the world, I am definitely sure we can win the compilation.
As I am a part of international student club, I saw the different dishes, I would love to suggest the sandwich which contains all the vegetables and few souses that makes it more delicious. First of all, its a two layer sandwich, every bread we have to spread coriander sauce and butter with servants sauce as well, first layer is boiled pototoes slices, sprinkle some mix Indian spices, add another layer tomatoes, sprinkle some spices and put a bread. In addition to that second layer is filled with slices of cucumbers and onions, We can also add bell peppers, latus, cabbage, according to person choice. However some sauces like chipotle, hot sauce makes it more delicious.
I think every corner of the world people eat bread sandwiches, so it is common to catch these attention easily, and the taste is very different as compared the the other sandwiches Because it has a Indian and Italian touch together.
I hope you will like the dish.
Yours faithfully
Ritika

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have addressed all three bullet points of the task: offering a dish, describing it, and explaining its inclusion. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. While the description of the sandwich is detailed, the explanation of why it should be included is a bit repetitive and lacks a strong persuasive argument. To improve, ensure that your reasons for inclusion are more distinct and focused on the event's goal of celebrating global food. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of argument could be enhanced to reach a higher band.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'In addition to that', and 'However'. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly misused, such as 'However' used to introduce a list of ingredients rather than a contrast. Additionally, the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as 'every bread we have to spread', which disrupts the flow. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words will help your ideas progress more naturally and logically throughout the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have a sufficient range of vocabulary to describe the dish, using terms like 'coriander sauce', 'boiled potato slices', and 'Indian spices'. However, there are several instances of word choice errors or awkward collocations, such as 'the one of famous dish' (should be 'one of the most famous dishes') and 'catch these attention' (should be 'attract attention'). There are also some spelling errors like 'souses' (sauces), 'latus' (lettuce), and 'pototoes'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling for common food-related terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow of reading, such as 'if you can add this dish... I am definitely sure we can win the compilation' (run-on/comma splice) and 'compared the the other' (preposition/article error). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While your meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focusing on sentence boundaries and basic grammatical accuracy will significantly improve your writing.
