Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt: offering to make a dish, describing it, and explaining its inclusion. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an organizer. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the dish is 'healthy' and 'tasty,' these points could be expanded with more specific details about the cooking process or the specific cultural context to make the argument more persuasive. The response covers the requirements, but the depth of the content is basic, which keeps this in the mid-range.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your ideas. You use basic cohesive devices like 'because' and 'this dish,' but the flow is occasionally interrupted by repetitive sentence structures. Some transitions between sentences feel mechanical rather than natural. For example, the jump between describing the ingredients and explaining the cultural significance could be smoother. Overall, the message is clear, and the paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the different parts of your request.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to communicate your message, such as 'cultural significance' and 'cooperation.' However, there are several spelling and word-choice errors that detract from the quality of the writing, such as 'supper' instead of 'super,' 'cousin' instead of 'cuisine,' and 'oversee' instead of 'overseas.' These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your intent. To reach a higher band, you should focus on using more precise vocabulary and ensuring correct spelling for common terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, which is good. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as 'I am from international students club' (missing article), 'This dish are incredible healthy' (subject-verb agreement), and 'I will look foreword for your reply' (incorrect preposition and spelling). While these errors are frequent, they rarely impede communication. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, the correct use of articles, and standard prepositional phrases.
