Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You offered to make a dish, described it as a rice pudding with milk and sugar, and explained its cultural significance. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, you could provide more vivid descriptions of the dish or more specific reasons why it would be a highlight of the event, rather than relying on general statements like 'it shows the whole culture'. Overall, the task is fulfilled clearly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'This event', 'So', and 'I would like to'. While the flow is generally smooth, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The use of paragraphing is appropriate, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. To improve, try using a wider variety of linking words and referencing to connect your sentences more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You have an adequate range of vocabulary to convey your message clearly. You use relevant terms like 'traditional food', 'ingredients', and 'enhance the taste'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'made on the time of every celebrations' (should be 'prepared for every celebration') and 'who are belong to' (should be 'who belong to'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the score. Using more precise descriptive adjectives for the food would help elevate your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully communicate your ideas, there are several grammatical inaccuracies. For example, 'I am writing this letter to offering' should be 'to offer', and 'name of the dessert is Rice pudding' lacks an article ('the name'). Additionally, 'enhance he taste' is a typographical error. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of infinitives after 'to'.
