Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Luis,
I got to know that the club organizing the event for celebrating the famous cuisines all over the globe. I want to offer you to make a papular dish from my country.
This dish is one of the famous dishes in the India called 'Rice pudding'. This dish has been making with rice and milk. The recipe of this dish is very easy; it does not take too much time. First of all, we have to boil the milk and then put rice in it. It is a sweet dish so we can put sugar according to the taste, and it includes dry fruits as well which make it tastier. Moreover, in India people love to make this dish on special occasions.
I believe, if you include this recipe in the event, it would definitely like by everyone as it has cultural touch. Along with this, individuals who attend the event get to know about the importance of it.
I eagerly wait for your response.
Yours sincerely,
Sandeep Kaur.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You offered to make a dish, described it clearly, and provided a logical reason for its inclusion in the event. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organizer. To reach a higher band, ensure that your descriptions are slightly more detailed; for example, explaining the cultural significance of the 'Rice pudding' (Kheer) in more depth would better develop your ideas. Overall, the response is relevant and covers the requirements of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', and 'Along with this' to link your ideas. However, the flow between some sentences is slightly mechanical. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that the transition between the description of the dish and the reason for its inclusion is smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate and contributes to the overall readability of the letter.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, such as 'cuisines', 'occasions', and 'cultural touch'. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'I got to know that' (should be 'I heard that' or 'I am writing to express my interest in') and 'papular' (spelling error). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, it lacks the variety and precision required for higher bands. Incorporating more specific culinary terms would enhance your lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical inaccuracies, such as 'This dish has been making with rice' (should be 'is made with'), 'it would definitely like by everyone' (should be 'would definitely be liked'), and 'individuals who attend the event get to know' (should be 'will get to know'). These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. Focus on passive voice construction and consistent verb tense usage.
