Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You offered to prepare a dish, described it clearly, and provided a logical reason for its inclusion in the event. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. To improve, you could expand slightly on the 'why' section; for instance, explaining how the dish encourages cultural exchange would add more depth to your argument. Overall, the response is relevant and fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is logically organised into clear paragraphs, each serving a specific purpose. You use some cohesive devices like 'moreover' and 'because', which help the flow of ideas. However, there are some issues with punctuation and sentence structure that occasionally disrupt the flow, such as the fragmented sentence 'because . it is one of the best dishes'. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring punctuation is placed correctly after clauses would help your ideas connect more smoothly and professionally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, using specific terms like 'basmati rice', 'aroma', and 'yoghurt-based'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'severd' (served), 'wich' (which), 'mike' (milk), and 'amd' (and). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To reach a higher band, focus on proofreading your work to catch these minor spelling slips and try to incorporate slightly more sophisticated collocations to describe the food.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, which is good. However, there are frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, such as missing articles ('at up coming food event'), incorrect verb forms ('is prepare'), and inconsistent capitalisation ('luis', 'Indians'). While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to lower the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and basic punctuation rules—specifically ensuring sentences do not start with lowercase letters—will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
