Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task: offering a dish, describing it, and explaining its inclusion. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. The description of the dish is quite basic, and the explanation for why it should be included is repetitive and lacks clarity in its expression. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the tone is occasionally informal and lacks the professional polish expected in a formal request to an event organiser. To improve, you should expand on your ideas with more descriptive language and ensure the tone remains consistently appropriate for the context.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. For example, the transition 'After this' is used repeatedly and inappropriately to link unrelated ideas. The flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, making the progression of ideas feel a bit forced. While the overall message is understandable, the lack of varied and accurate linking words prevents the response from reaching a higher band. Improving the use of transition signals would significantly enhance the logical flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally limited and repetitive. You rely on basic terms like 'things', 'make', and 'food' throughout the letter. There are also some noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'request for serve' instead of 'request to serve' and 'bolled' instead of 'boiled'. While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the basic meaning, it lacks the range and precision required for a higher score. You should focus on learning more specific culinary terms and improving your control over common collocations to express your ideas more naturally.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some attempted complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the reader's understanding. Issues include incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'they may be take'), missing articles, and awkward phrasing (e.g., 'it name is Aloo paratha'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas. While the meaning is generally clear, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar prevents a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent sentence construction will help improve your accuracy.
