Dear Luis,

I am a member of an international Students' club, our club is organising an event to celebrate popular food from different parts of the world. I find out that you are the event organiser of this event. This is the reason I am writing this letter to request you to add ''Undhiu'', it is popular dish of India.

Basically, Undhiu is most popular dish of one of the best city of India, namely Gujarat. In addition, I am requesting to add this in this event because this is unique food with an overload of minerals and vitamins in it, health concious individual enjoy it as it contain less oil and lots of vegetables.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have successfully addressed all three bullet points in the prompt. You offered to make a dish, described it, and provided a clear rationale for its inclusion. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For example, the description of the cooking process is a bit repetitive and could be more concise, while the explanation of why it should be included could be expanded with more persuasive language regarding the cultural significance of the dish rather than just its nutritional value. Overall, the task is fulfilled, but the depth of content could be improved to reach a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The letter is organised into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your points. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore' and 'In addition' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical. For instance, the transition in the second paragraph regarding the cooking process is a bit clunky. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'this' in the third paragraph, which could be more specific. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between sentences would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'marinate', 'tempting', and 'concious'. However, there are several inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'best city of India' (which should be 'state') and 'dig the hole and put it in that hole' (which is repetitive and slightly unnatural). There are also minor spelling errors like 'chilly' (chili) and 'concious' (conscious). To improve, focus on using more precise terminology and checking the spelling of common descriptive words. The vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, but lacks the precision required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'I find out that you are' (should be 'I found out'), 'it is popular dish' (missing article 'a'), and 'as it contain' (subject-verb agreement error). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and apostrophes. While these errors do not prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the overall fluency. Increasing your control over basic grammar and sentence construction will significantly improve your score.
