Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
You have addressed all three bullet points in the prompt effectively. You clearly offered to make a dish, provided a description of chicken biryani, and explained its cultural significance and why it would be a good addition to the event. The tone is appropriate for a letter to an event organiser. The ideas are relevant and well-developed, providing enough detail to satisfy the requirements of the task. The purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning, and you maintain this focus throughout the response.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organised with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the task, which helps the reader follow your ideas easily. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Most importantly' and 'I believe', which help to connect your thoughts. However, the transition between sentences could be smoother in some places, and the use of cohesive devices is somewhat basic. Improving the variety of linking words would help to elevate the flow of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'hospitality', 'diversity', and 'uniqueness' appropriately. There are some minor inaccuracies, such as 'favorable food' (which is not a standard collocation in this context) and 'app' (which seems to be a typo for 'dish'). While you successfully convey your meaning, the vocabulary is generally functional rather than sophisticated. To reach a higher band, try to incorporate more precise collocations and avoid repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is always clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'our international students' club organizing' (missing 'is'), 'When guests are arrived' (incorrect passive voice), and 'helped to show' (tense inconsistency). These errors do not impede communication, but they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses will significantly improve your accuracy.
