You are a member of an International Students' club. The club is organising an event to celebrate popular food from around the world.

Write a letter to the event organiser, Luis. In your letter

• offer to make a popular dish from your country
• describe what this dish is
• explain why it should be included in the event

Begin your letter as follows:

Student answer (Band 7.0)

Dear Luis,

I am writing this letter to offer my help with the upcoming international food events. I am very excited about the opportunity to share a traditional dish from my country.

I would be delighted to prepare "Gujrati dhokla" from back home Gujrat, India. This is most famous dish in my state.

Dhokla is a soft and savory steamed cake made mainly from the fermented gram flour. It includes flour, yogurt, Indian spices, and lots of vegetables. It is cut in to small pieces and served with green chutney. It usually garnished with coriander, curry leaves, mustard seeds, coconuts.

I believe a dhokla should be included in the event because it represents an important part of Indian cuisine and is enjoyed by people of all ages. Moreover, it is a healthy and vegetarian dish, so it would be suitable for people who are on diet. I would be prepare enough portion for everyone to taste and can explain how it is traditionally made.
